Lack A Version! With Abbey and Tyrone. Before Lack A Version and after Lack A Version is kind of the anchor point of an Australian musician's life, I think.

SPEAKER_3 (0:22)

Pretty intimidating song, like you hear it, and it sounds like the uncoverable.

Jessica Mauboy (0:28)

The verses are great. They're so well written and they make me feel really sexy when I'm singing them.

SPEAKER_1 (0:33)

Like A Version on Triple J.

Tyrone (0:35)

It is a Friday morning. Abbie and Tyrone with you here on Triple J. And that's right, we are doing Like A Version. And what a special one it is because in the studio, we have one for good morning.

Abbie (0:45)

How are you boys?

ONEFOUR member (0:46)

Morning, morning, morning.

Abbie (0:47)

So good to have you guys back. I feel like the last time we spoke to you was maybe around the time of the doco coming out, which seems like a lifetime ago. But here doing Like A Version, I mean, how are you feeling about to get into the Like A Version studio?

ONEFOUR member (0:58)

I can't wait to get in there. We've been working on getting in Like A Version finally here.

Jimmy Barnes (1:04)

Yeah. Can't wait.

Abbie (1:05)

Very, very exciting. I mean, you've been up to a lot of stuff over the last couple of years. Selly, I want to ask you how High Rocks was.

Jessica Mauboy (1:11)

Because I saw you did the High Rocks.

Abbie (1:12)

Ty has been very interested. Would you have any advice for him?

ONEFOUR member (1:16)

I would say get you running up because that's what you'll be doing most of the time.

ONEFOUR member (1:21)

No, no free day benders.

ONEFOUR member (1:22)

Yeah, no free day benders. I don't go down that behaviour, that behaviour.

Tyrone (1:29)

If I run, I need to listen to music in my headphones. But some people want to talk. I don't know if that's, do you find that you listen to music?

ONEFOUR member (1:36)

Yeah, I do. When you're doing running for like nearly four hours, you listen to your playlist about 10 times, just keeps going. So yeah, me and my mate, we don't really talk on our runs unless we're asked where we're going.

Tyrone (1:50)

Hopefully the High Rocks, if and when I do it, maybe they'll let me wear headphones during it because I don't know if I'll be able to get through.

ONEFOUR member (1:56)

The High Rocks, there's a big DJ there, they got all that.

Jimmy Barnes (2:00)

Yeah, I'm going to need to plug the orchestra into my ears.

Abbie (2:04)

I mean, something else that you've been up to, not just the fitness journey, but I saw that you recently performed with 50 Cent. What the hell was that like?

ONEFOUR member (2:11)

We're on the line up with 50 Cent in Malaysia. It was good. He was cool. We actually weren't able to get a hold of him because he's a very hard man to get to, but man, his aura, just seeing him come out and do his thing, it was crazy.

Tyrone (2:26)

You know what? That's just 50 Cent not being able to meet one for them.

ONEFOUR member (2:29)

Exactly.

ONEFOUR member (2:31)

As well.

Tyrone (2:32)

So it's a two-way street.

ONEFOUR member (2:33)

100%. That was a vibe actually getting to watch him perform because obviously everyone's heard a bit of 50 So yeah, that was a vibe.

Tyrone (2:40)

Between then, you've also had your respective solo releases as well that dropped last year. What was that experience like doing your own music?

ONEFOUR member (2:51)

I think it's just for the love of music. We just like, you know, enjoy making our own music. So we still make music as a collective, but it's just enjoying making music on our own. We just want to get that stuff out as well.

Abbie (3:03)

Yeah. I imagine you'll be performing one of these new ones in the latest release as your original for Like A Version 1.4 here in the studio. Tell us, what will you be performing?

ONEFOUR member (3:12)

What will we be performing, lads?

ONEFOUR member (3:13)

It will be him, our recent track that we just released. We actually made that for the Prince of Malaysia. He requested us to make a song and you know what, it actually resonated with us the way we came out and read our lyrics. So the boys were actually in the studio and they started off the song.

ONEFOUR member (3:29)

Yeah. It was actually pretty easy to write because we've got to spend a bit of time with the Prince over there. So just being around him and obviously given that opportunity, like we're just inspired to just create music based on him and he's been able to expose us to. So a big shout out to the Prince over there. We call him TMJ and definitely got more gigs lined up, he reckons.
