There's another sense of urgency that comes from within. You already know you have to make a change, act differently. And since this podcast is about money, wealth and investing, there may be something in that department that has been neglected. Maybe it's covered in dust. Maybe it hasn't been reviewed, revisited or even watched for a while. I would describe it as being off by an inch today and by a mile five or 10 years from now.

Money and compounding are fascinating phenomena. The day after the difference is minimal. A decade from now, the difference can be huge. That's a good sense of urgency. It can help you revisit your decisions and assumptions. Again, it's urgency that comes from within, not the urgency that someone creates because they need to sell you something.

Welcome to Talking Billions. We talk about big ideas, big inspirations, big topics. We take on the hardest topic of all, money. How to make it, save it, keep it. But our conversations lead us to an even bigger question, what it means to live a rich life beyond money. My guests share their practices, principles and evergreen wisdom. I'm your host, Bogumil Baranowski, author, TEDx speaker and investment advisor to wealth creators with patient capital and an infinite investment horizon. I work with families and individuals who aspire to grow wealth over a lifetime and generations through disciplined, thoughtful investments in durable quality businesses while giving money meaning. Join me on this quest to unearth and share the wisdom of the ages. Let me share with you the podcast program disclosure statement. With your presence, we create this recurring virtual but very real space for education, inspiration and just a flow of ideas.

When I say ideas, I don't mean specific stock recommendations. I think you have enough of those all around. I'm talking about long-term, long-shelf life ideas that can change the trajectory of your financial path. Thank you for all the kind emails. I appreciate every one of them. And as you can tell, I read them and reply. Keep writing. I include my podcast email in the show notes. Grab it quickly. I might not keep it there for too long, to avoid spam and leave room for you all to write. And take a moment to share the show and this episode with someone in your life who would appreciate it too. It's been four years now, 230 some episodes plus lots of bonus content from my interviews on other shows and collaborations, especially with the Excess Returns team. Matt Ziegler and I host the regular 100 Year Thinkers with two legends, Robert Haxtrom and Chris Mayer. We have some special guests coming up. I wish I could tell you who we're recording with next week, but I'll let you find out here or on Excess Returns. It's someone I've heard speak at events many times, someone very close to the source, or at least one of the sources, and I greatly appreciate his thinking. I'm super excited for that conversation. August and September brought some incredible episodes. I spoke with Paul Johnson, who teaches investing at Columbia and Fordham. We went back down the memory lane to the fundamental investing education, and he reminded me of an important difference in vocabulary. It's not necessarily value investing, it's fundamental investing, looking at the kind of businesses you're buying, why you're buying it, and how much you're willing to pay. Paul is a joy to talk to. Thank you, Howard Lestrade, for connecting us. It's one of those moments when friends of friends become your friends. I also had the pleasure of hosting Lee Freeman-Shor, who studied successful investors and walked away with some incredible research and conclusions.
