Cara (0:20)

Hey everyone, welcome to Bless This Mess of the True Crime Podcast. I'm Cara. Here with Stew. Say hey, Stew. Hey. All right, go ahead and grab your mason jars and pull up your rocking chair.

Yes, I'm still leaning into the porch theme. It's never going away, Stew. It is never going away. So today we are going to North Carolina for a case that was brought down three Southern families, fancy Southern families, rich Southern families.

Stew (0:52)

Kind of like the Murdochs.

Cara (0:54)

Yeah, I think it was similar situations. They were Southern aristocrats or whatever you call them. Yes.

Stew (1:04)

Got that brought down by their own hubris. Mm-hmm.

Cara (1:07)

I would say that, yes. But before we get into everything, here is a regular, or here's a reminder.

Stew (1:16)

I can't.

Cara (1:17)

Guys, it's late. It's only 1030 at night.

Stew (1:20)

It's not late.

Cara (1:21)

It's late for me.

I normally am in bed by now.

Here is a reminder of our weekly schedule. So on Mondays is when I step outside the South for A Little Less Mess mini-sodes. So that one you can go check out. They are titled A Little Less Mess. And then it's like less this week, we went to New Jersey. Yeah. Jersey Stew. Jersey. You know what's funny is when I'm recording those because I just read them, I have a hard time anytime I say details. I'm in my head.

Stew (1:49)

I'm like, almost tell yourself to drink. Yeah.

Cara (1:52)

I almost tell myself I should say drink. And then I wanted to say Jersey. It's a Jersey. It's a Jew and it's a ginger.

Anyways.

Stew (2:02)

South Park reference.

Cara (2:02)

That's a South Park reference. Don't come at me. Okay. Be like, why is she saying Jews and Gingers?

Stew (2:08)

In Jersey.

Cara (2:09)

In Jersey. And then Thursdays is our regular episode with what you're listening to right now. If you want to get those early and ad free, plus our Friday bonus show, sit and sipping and bullshitting, come join our Patreon family. Now you can also keep the porch light on by visiting our Buy Me a Coffee page to treat us to a sweet tea.

Stew was supposed to get all the Patreons and he has not. So next week, I promise, he's going to go back from when we revamped and get all the Patreons and give a shout out.

Stew (2:44)

That was in Midland.

Cara (2:46)

Yes, that was in Midland. We resided in Midland back then. We've only been here a month. So I mean, it's not like.

Stew (2:53)

It seems like a long time since we haven't completely unpacked our house yet. I say we're only about a quarter away through the process of unpacking and sorting all the crap that goes along with it, trying to find pediatricians, doctors, pediatric dentists.

Cara (3:11)

And things for these children to do.

I wanted to mention on the Buy Me a Coffee. So Lisa, she was so sweet after I had my, so on the sit and sip and bullshitting, I told quite the work story from my first week at work. And I'm still, if I start to talk about it again, I will start laughing. So anyway, she was, she sent me, she sent, told me to go buy me a coffee. And then she accidentally did it twice. And I was, I've been trying to figure out how to refund her the other ones, but she told me to just tape it. But she was very nice to send me the coffees, and I definitely went and have gotten me a coffee at work. So thank you very, very much.

Stew (3:50)

I have received nothing from this.

Cara (3:51)

No, you haven't.

So, well, the coffee makes me a nicer person. I mean, by the time I see you, the coffee's worn off.

Stew (3:58)

No, it's worn off by the time you get home.

Cara (4:00)

But the people at work, it's helping my, my performance review.

Stew (4:03)

People, I'm a likable person.

Cara (4:06)

Yes, after my, I had people come up and tell me I was, I was cool. I was a cool girl. I was awesome after my, I did my Who Am I?

And told my story. If you've been here a while, I, I told my story about witnessing the arm drop ring.

Stew (4:24)

And Kelly Clarkson.

Cara (4:25)

And Kelly Clarkson.

Stew (4:26)

You're two go-tos.

Cara (4:27)

Those are my two stories. I used them both.

And then they thought it was funny that we had our kids riding across into Mexico on a donkey. So everyone's also shocked. I mean, like at this point in time, if you have four children, or I feel like you're just like a, they think you're like a giant family.
