Well, collaboration.
I don't know if you do this in the kitchen or not, but so I'm in a band. I've been in a band for about 10 years. There's seven of us.

**Dave Chang** (1:50)
It's a big band.

It's a big band. We've got horns and everything's a ska band. But when like we have shows coming up, I like to pick songs that I think, like when we do covers, we do originals, but when we do the covers, like what do the people want to listen to? What do they want to hear?

**Dave Chang** (2:04)
Are you doing ska covers? Or are you doing covers and turn them into ska?

**Matt** (2:08)
Yes and yes. So like I'll pick a song, I think this is going to make everybody dance. It's going to make everybody sing, get them out of their seats. And like they're like, well, it's not really ska, it's not really what our sound is. And I'm like, well, it doesn't make it our sound, man. Like, but I think people will dig these songs. It's like, well, there's lots of other songs to choose from. And so I kind of get shot down.
But like, I want to iterate that these guys are super nice. You know, they're not like disrespectful or anything like that. But, you know, how do I get them to kind of see things my way or help them to get to where I want to be? Like, I want to get people dancing, you know, I want to make the people happy. Do you have anything like that when you're in the kitchen, if you guys are making a menu and you want to put like a dish on the menu that to, you know, kind of tell the story, but somebody disagrees?

**Dave Chang** (2:58)
Um, yeah, it happens a lot. It happens a lot.
I usually will let anybody put something on the menu, if they really want to do it. Like, they almost feel like it's something they have to do.

Right.

How much do you want to fight for it?

Yeah, that's really it. It's like, even if I don't believe in it, if you really want to do it, what I mean by like, you have to do it, you cannot go to sleep, you cannot wake up if this does not like get birthed. But for you, like, I don't know, like, are you the most, who's the most vital person in the band?

**Matt** (3:36)
There's four of us.

Like, are you Steve Perry of Journey?

I'm the lead singer and the front man.

Because I know they have a really amazing, you know, replacement for Steve Perry, but that's Journey.

I write most of the songs, but my guitarist makes them way better. So it's a collaboration.
