Hey, all right. I'm very apologetic for the way that that cold open started, and very apologetic for the way that the show is just, hey, I didn't even nail the open, so we'll try to rein it in here. That game sucked. I've done that open before, just that game sucked because it did. There was a chance for the White Sox to tie up that game in the seventh, and it really just absolutely slipped away from them. We'll be joined in today's show by Jared Willis from Rate Field. We'll talk largely about Noah Schultz and his start. I won't go too into the numbers because I know that Jared has a piece specifically about Noah that he will be wrapping up, and we'll chat about that there. This is game 105 for the White Sox. They are 55 and 49 entering this game. Mune Bobblehead was yesterday, and he had two home runs and six RBI. He has a career high. Shout out to Munetaka Murakami. His parents threw out the first pitch. Both mom and dad were there. Homer had his first at bat as I was walking in. Shout out to Sean C, who recognized the Bugs Murakami shirt and handed me the Bobblehead. I do recommend the guaranteed promo.
I got the ticket for five bucks, and then the actual guaranteed promo was 20 I walked in as the game started. Didn't have to wait with that very, very long line. So hey, maybe instead of spending 25 on an outfield ticket, spend five on it. And then I got lucky, my guy AJ, and I watched the game. And if you watch the Junior Perez Homer, you could see AJ and I kind of bounced back because the railing was right in front of us. Junior Perez Homer hit off the railing and bounced back in the field of play. And then shout out to Luke, who recognized me before. I didn't remember that I met him before, though. So then he was like, yeah, we met before. And I was like, oh, I'm not a recognizable person.
People have recognized me maybe like 10 times, maybe.
And Luke has recognized me twice. And I'm very apologetic there to Luke. But Luke almost got a home run ball, inches away. So shout out to Luke for the second time meeting him. But Sox lose two or three to Houston. Friday sucked. Saturday was a little bit more stomachable because the Sox didn't actually score. So you could just be more frustrated with the offense. But on Friday, that was a very winnable game. This one felt winnable in ways, but they did not get off to the right start. Again, game 105, it's Schultz versus Friede. Top one, Schultz gets a first pitch, nine pitch strikeout against Schumann. And it was a nice ish at bat, but it kind of gave you an insight on what this was going to be. This was going to be an effective start from Noah Schultz when we look at the stats, but he's not going to go long in this game. He's going to exit before the fourth inning is over with over 70 pitches. So it wasn't an efficient outing for Noah, and that's what led to his demise. Then Schultz, Kase Rice on a 96-mile-per-hour sinker, and you're like, hello, this is a lot better than this throwing it down the pipe against all the Texas Rangers. But then Goldschmidt on a one-two count on a curveball that looked very wicked. I was very impressed by the depth of the curveball of a Goldschmidt, very veteran move, slapping it to the right side for a single. But then Schultz bounces back on five pitches, Ks, Jason Dominguez, three Ks to start his day. Bottom one, Grichick with a single that bounces off third base. And then the Karam really kind of takes it up in the air. So it's a slow descent, and it's a tough ball to get to. It's a double for Grichick. Nice hustle there by the old man. And then Murakami laces a single back up the middle, off the lefty, 105.7 for Murakami. Runners on first and third, Grichick wasn't sure if Jones had a play in center field, so he couldn't go home on that. Vargas is Cade in a full count, but then Coulson got to a 3-0 count, fouled with it's 3-2.
