Nightcap - Part 2: LIVE from Prairie View A&M ft. A Different World Cast

Chad Johnson (4:18)

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.

SPEAKER_2 (4:19)

That's what I'm talking about. Yes, sir.

Shannon Sharpe (4:21)

Now coming to the stage, Engineer was one of the greatest football turnarounds in SWAC history. 2025 SWAC Coach of the Year. That's right, Coach of the Year, 2025, non-SBS, All-Texas Coach of the Year, the King of Gotta Get There, Prairie View A&M Head Coach Tremaine Jackson.

Coach, you prepping for the Labor Day Classic against your alma mater? You're gonna do it with Chittisbury did his alma mater drop 87 on him?

Joe Johnson (5:05)

Well, if we can. We certainly want to.

Shannon Sharpe (5:09)

Obviously, this is a big game. This is your rival, you went there. It would mean so much for you to make sure you take care of business if we don't. What coach, if we want, first of all, let me say thank you for taking time out of your schedule. I know as a coach, everything is so scripted and so scheduled, and for you to take time out of your busy schedule to sit down with us, we greatly, greatly appreciate that. What do you need to do to make sure you get the win on Sunday? We need to take care of the football. We got to take care of the football. We still got some questions unanswered from last week's game.

We got to score in the red zone, and we got to tackle somebody. We had a hard time tackling last week, so I think our guys have gotten that figured out this week, and we're ready to go.

SPEAKER_5 (5:46)

If you could use one word to describe this team, I know it's early in the season, if you could use one word to describe this team, what would it be?

SPEAKER_6 (5:53)

Dogmatic. Dogmatic.

Shannon Sharpe (5:56)

We love it, man. We love everything that comes with working hard.

SPEAKER_8 (5:59)

Yes, sir.

Shannon Sharpe (6:00)

Coach, this team's slogan has got to get there. Break that down for us.

Yeah, you know, that's something that we said a year ago when we got here about getting to Atlanta where the national championship is.

SPEAKER_8 (6:12)

Yeah.

Shannon Sharpe (6:12)

And so that's one of our slogans. It's finished the fight, though, really this year.

We got within two points of Coach Barry and his team winning the national championship. And so now we know we know how to get there. But when we get there, we got to finish the fight. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_8 (6:29)

This team has some swag.

Shannon Sharpe (6:31)

How do you make sure your team is confident, but not cocky when you step on the field? Yeah, we say we say something really simple.

And just because you weren't don't mean you can't be. So we try to keep it even keel. Keep it on a day to day basis to make sure our guys stay focused on what's at hand. Coach, in front of all these fans, tell us what Prairie View A&M mean to you. Prairie View A&M gave me an opportunity to be the Division I FCS head football coach.

Joe, you good? Yeah, I'm good.

Joe Johnson (7:08)

Coach, thank you.

SPEAKER_5 (7:09)

Hold on, I do got one more. You know you see all these players that play in the NFL, they're coming back to college. Now I got a little eligibility left.

I mean, what are we trying to do?

Joe Johnson (7:21)

But I can suit up.

Shannon Sharpe (7:22)

Hey, I got a judge on deck in Walla County that will give us that temporary restraining order.

SPEAKER_8 (7:27)

So we should get it on.

Joe Johnson (7:29)

On Saturday.

Shannon Sharpe (7:29)

No, we need it. Yes, Coach, thank you for stopping by. Appreciate it.

Joe Johnson (7:32)

Good luck, Coach Sunday.

Shannon Sharpe (7:33)

Yes, sir.
