What happened, man?
**Shannon Sharpe** (0:04)
Joe, I'm gonna have to let you have to do this one first. Byron Scott on LeBron James being considered the GOAT. He says, great players don't join multiple teams. Most of us judge LeBron based on guys that just mentioned, I'll throw one more guy in there, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He got traded from Milwaukee to LA, right? So two teams, his whole career, MJ, two teams basically, you know, in the whole career. So when you're judging LeBron, you're looking at a guy of the greatest players of all time, and what they did at those organizations. They basically never left.
**Joe Johnson** (0:35)
Come on, man.
Hey, listen, I don't know why they go at Byron so much. Maybe it's because he did lead the Lakers, considering the fact that he could have went back there. He could have went back to LA, Unc and Ochocinco, but come on, man. I don't know why he gets the scrutiny that he gets. You know, it's okay, man. He ain't got to...
**Shannon Sharpe** (0:57)
Well, right now, they got a podcast. And you beat them up right now, you gon get clicks and likes, you gon get mentions. Now, he said, the fact of the matter, he said multiple teams. Multiple teams means more than one. Back then, it's kind of like in the NFL, guys couldn't move like they can now, Ocho. Guys can move like they move in basketball. So I guess Shaq couldn't be considered a great player. KD can't be considered a great player. LeBron, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Joseph Malone, Akeem Olajuwon, Patrick Lee. Come on, what are we doing, man? What are we doing? I don't care if you're with the 20 teams. How good was he on those teams? Every team he played for, they won a championship. Every team that he played for, he was an all NBA selection. How many guys can say, you know what? I've been on four different teams and I've been an all NBA selection on all of them.
Every team that I've played for, I've gone to an NBA finals. Three of those are four teams that I've been on. I've won an NBA finals. I've won a finals MVP. Yeah, it would be great. You all people always talk about players not being lost. But hold on. You said some very interesting. Now, I love B Scott. And B Scott know this because I used to work, we used to work out in the same gym when I was in LA. I see it and we always mess up. We end up talking for an hour and mess up our workout because we talking basketball, we talking football. But the fact of the matter is, Milwaukee Trader Kareem, where was the loyalty?
Where's the loyalty?
The Lakers traded shat.
Where was the loyalty? Orlando Trading Shack. Where was the loyalty? We expect loyalty from the players, but we don't demand loyalty from the organization. The organization says, I'm gonna do what we're doing what's in the best interest of the organization. A player does what's in the best interest. Oh, he's running from time. He's running. He's chasing rings. What are teams chasing we're chasing?
Why did Miami trade for Yonis? You don't think they're chasing rings? Yeah, yeah. Why did 76ers trade for Jalen Brown? You don't think they're chasing rings? What are we doing here? If you're in a sport, aren't you trying to win said championship of your sport?
I would like to think so. Now, maybe everybody's not under that same, everybody ain't trying to win, because you're going to make X amount of dollars whether you win or lose. Okay, I get all that. But I just don't get this. So now the man can't be...
It would be great if guys could stay like the old Celtics. You know, for the most part, those guys stayed there. And Elgin Baylor stayed there, and Jerry West stayed there, and Gale Good. But it's not like that anymore. Guys, y'all know that B Scott. You know in today's game, football ain't the same. Guys move. Baseball ain't the same. Baseball always would trade that guy. That mean hell, they traded Bayruth, so it ain't nothing. You know, Frank Robinson, Frank Robinson got traded. Hell, he was an MVP in the league, and trading went and got another MVP. He ain't show. He ain't the only two that ever did that. But I just don't get this. I just don't get it. I don't get it. Ocho, chime in, Ocho, what you think?
**Chad Johnson** (4:07)
Listen, they're always gonna find something wrong because of the person it is. We've never seen anything happen like this before. We've never seen anything done like this before. Because he's a king, because he sits atop that mountain, everyone's going to take shots at him. The fact that he's still doing it today at 42 years old, going into his 24th season, I just don't understand. Obviously, I don't know the ins and outs of basketball and have a great knowledge of it the way you two do, but I do understand how great LeBron is. And because he's been great for so long and been consistent at what he does for so long, they're gonna find every little way to nitpick at the way he's won.
