Oh, we got a very special guest joining us. Welcome to the club. Chargers linebacker, Dae'yan Henley, eight tackles, half a sack, a quarterback hit. Unfortunately, the Chargers lost to the Cardinals. Dae'yan, bro, bro, hey, you know what the expectations are. Consider what you guys accomplished last year. You know the expectations are even higher this year. What happened?

Daiyan Henley (0:20)

Hold on, hold on now, hold on now. I might be acting like, yo, let me make sure y'all can see me.

Shannon Sharpe (0:26)

Yeah, we got you. We can hear and see you.

Daiyan Henley (0:30)

Hold on, let me make sure I get, oh, here we go. Is all good, we good?

Shannon Sharpe (0:35)

Yeah, we great.

Daiyan Henley (0:36)

I appreciate y'all having me back in the building, first of all, you know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying?

Gilbert Arenas (0:40)

I appreciate you coming on.

Shannon Sharpe (0:42)

I don't know what you heard. I don't know what you heard. You had a great game last week. You had eight tackles, half a sack, quarterback hit, but unfortunately, you guys lost. You do know what the expectations are, given that you guys went to the playoffs last year. What happened? What went wrong in this game?

Coach Harbaugh said he probably should have played y'all a little more in the preseason, because a lot of the things that showed up in that game probably could have been rectified if you had played a little bit more in the preseason.

Daiyan Henley (1:06)

I mean, just to harp up what he said, I agree 100%.

I'm always going to ride with Coach Harbaugh. He knows best as always. And I think you feel me. What he's just saying is when you got new coaching staff, offense, defense, the continuity has to be built. And so for us to get those reps and real game experiences, big time, so I 100% agree with everything he said. I feel me, we could go back in time. I know we will do it the right way, but right now we pressing on, moving forward. It happened and we trying to make sure it don't happen again.

Chad Johnson (1:41)

What's the atmosphere like? Obviously Wednesday, today's probably the main day when it comes to install. What was the atmosphere like, just defensively for you guys?

Daiyan Henley (1:50)

I mean, we know what's ahead of us, right?

That's kind of the atmosphere. We are a high-spirited group of individuals that's determined and know that we're destined for more. So the energy is up, man. We, it's no point in looking behind us now. It's just about what's going forward. So we got the right energy and everybody is ready to install and move forward to the next opponent. And the next opponent is a big one, right? We got the Raiders and as our coach would say, they count as two. One win against them count as two just because of our conference and how things set up when we got our divisional opponents.

Shannon Sharpe (2:24)

Yeah.

Hey, you're a young guy, but you're leading this defense. You know, how do you hold guys accountable bro on defense?

Daiyan Henley (2:31)

I mean, the first thing first is holding yourself accountable, right?

Never be a me, me guy or what I did, right? And I think that's what takes the people from looking at you as just a player to looking at you as a leader, right? So for me, it's not about how I perform, whether it's good, bad or indifferent. It's about making sure I can hold myself accountable and know that there's things I could have did better from communication to tackling, to being in areas I could have been. And then from near looking at my teammates and saying, you know, I got your back and you got my back. And that's kind of just what it's been going into this week. And especially with guys like Durin James and Kahlil Mack on my side, just talking to them, their whole thing is, you know, just make sure that we got each other's back at the end of the day.

Shannon Sharpe (3:15)

When you look at this game, you played the Raiders, that's a division opponent, but you got somebody that you got to really game tackle. Because you look at him, he's not that big, as did Gentie, but boy, is he hard to get on the damn ground. He runs with so much power and he has so much leverage. How do you make sure he doesn't have a game like he had last week to start the season?
