Hey, guys, welcome back to another episode of Best Practices. I might have left you hanging a little bit since the last episode, but I just finished recording another great one with a tattoo shop owner, and it made me reflect on the point we're at in this show and the trajectory that we're on. And I couldn't be happier with the diversity of business owners that we've been talking to. And I just want to run down a list real quick because I want to keep this. This is really cool. So we've got we've had a story of retail ownership with Tooth and Nail, grocery store owner, Steve Silvagio of Western Market, beer tap cleaning, beer line cleaning service, BC Brian Gilmore, sandwich shop, Mike, and then a bakery with Max and a salon with William and electrician with Chris and interior design with Jill. And just and the love, oh, the love story between between Tiffany and I. Oh, thank you. I appreciate that.
So we just sat down with the tattoo shop owner, and it's so interesting. I'm learning things about different industries, and I hope you guys are too. And I hope you're inspired as I am.
These stories of success and a lot of, you know, there's some suffering along the way, some more than others. But the philosophical stuff that I'm learning about what it takes to do, to live the dream is really inspiring. And I just want to take a moment to thank you guys for following along. I know some of you are like, you listen to every episode, and that's amazing. Jeremy keeps pressuring me to do the Patreon, and we're going to do it. He's got a great idea for that.
I just got a new job as a project manager for a restaurant, and the details are going to come out soon. It's another great restaurant in Ferndale. There's a lot of stuff that I'm doing, a lot of things happening, which is great. I am not complaining whatsoever. So without any further ado, here is Nick Kelly of Well Wishes Tattoo. You could find him up on Woodward near Vincetta Garage. If you want to look into scheduling an appointment and possibly getting tattooed by him, the show notes will be his information there and you can look for a link there. Nick.
Nick Kelly (2:34)
What's up, dude?
Chris Best (2:35)
Dude, it turns out that I know you and I was thinking that this was going to be, I was going to be rolling up to my first interview on this podcast of the person I didn't actually know, but then it turns out I actually know you.
Nick Kelly (2:50)
First Stranger Danger. I thought that's why I was here.
Chris Best (2:55)
Do you remember the gift you gave us a long time ago?
Nick Kelly (2:58)
Was it a magnet?
Chris Best (2:59)
It was.
Nick Kelly (3:00)
We were trying to do a business out of that.
Chris Best (3:01)
Yeah.
Nick Kelly (3:01)
It was fun.
Chris Best (3:02)
And I just talked to my wife this morning before I came in here and I said, this podcast who we thought was going to, because Jeremy, the producer of this show, arranged all of this.
And I said, you know, actually, I think I know this person because I thought it was going to be somebody we didn't know. And I said, you remember that the wooden like tattoo, like epoxy coated magnets? And she said, absolutely, those were really cool.
Nick Kelly (3:28)
I'm pumped you remembered it.
Chris Best (3:29)
So we both remembered those gifts because we, you know, that was like this thing that you were trying to, I didn't know you were trying to make a business out of it.
Nick Kelly (3:36)
But it was just trying to do like a day here. I just thought so the backstory is pretty funny. I don't think I heard his feeling saying this. I have a friend that used to run the Emory and he was like, I'm not going to work in restaurants anymore so I can cut back drinking.
He's a heavy drinker. But one of my closest friends, he's my kid's uncle, he was like, if we have these garage nights and we do something crafty, he'll cut the wood, I'll paint it, he won't be drinking and instead we just got fucking annihilated in my garage, like problematically drunk and I had like a new baby at home. So I'm like, never mind with this business plan, this is terrible.
Chris Best (4:08)
Yeah. It's a little gateway drug.
Nick Kelly (4:10)
Yeah. So he'll find him once in a while because he has most of them and he'll send me a little photos, memory of it. He lives out in Colorado now.
