Hello, and welcome to The Hockey Gambling Podcast. I am your host, Ryan Gilbert, joined by my co-host, Joel Meyer and Sean Marciano, and we have Chase Saul back here as our guest. As we've made it, boys, it's the final team preview last show before we are looking at regular season games. Friday night here at We Do It, Boys.
Joel Meyer (0:51)
Doing okay, but last night could have gone a little better. Imagine laying six and a half with the Packers with the absolutely horrific offensive line, which got absolutely demolished by the, I don't know, diminished Falcon defensive line. It was a tough go, but you know what? Who cares? Because it's always good to see the Packers get slaughtered. So that was a silver lining. I have win totals under on both teams, so it could have gone worse, I guess. Actually, a draw was actually what I was really rooting for in that respect. But yeah, I can't pick an NFL game to save my life so far, yet I still have like a dozen bets on the game on Sunday and Monday. Hopefully those go a little better. I finally started making some college bets for tomorrow, mostly just for fun, seeing what's on TV.
But yeah, football is not going well so far, as we've been over this whole week. But yeah, excited for hockey, early season.
Start with the September 29th, I believe on Tuesday, going to be good. I can't wait to just stop to think about football and start thinking about hockey. So that's where I'm at. Wow.
Sean Marciano (2:05)
Can't believe I hear Joel saying this right now. You're not a big fan of Shani, Coach of the Year? Come on. You don't want to start hyping that up?
All those injuries? Come on.
Joel Meyer (2:13)
I was thinking about that and then you post about it. It's like the John Cooper 2.0. It's the legacy Jack Adams Award, right?
SPEAKER_4 (2:19)
Yeah. It's totally the same.
Sean Marciano (2:20)
Come on.
Joel Meyer (2:21)
Yeah. But I don't know.
It's tough to go against the coaches of bad teams the previous year. So that's the thing against it. But you know what? I think he has a pretty good case, especially if these injuries keep piling up. Now Nick Bosa is out. Like at some point, you just have to respect the coaching. They're like a zombie team. They constantly just like half the team is out. You have 14 guys in IR. I think I heard today. It's ridiculous.
Sean Marciano (2:50)
They're running into IR spaces.
Joel Meyer (2:52)
I totally back that play. I just haven't made it myself yet.
Sean Marciano (2:55)
Terrible. Terrible.
Joel Meyer (2:56)
But it's a good timing though, because they're what? 10-point favorites against the Cardinals.
Sean Marciano (2:59)
Yeah, right.
Joel Meyer (3:00)
Eight or nine or something like that.
Sean Marciano (3:02)
Yeah. And then they play like another crappy team here soon.
But yeah, I'm doing great. How are you, Mr. Seesaw?
Chase Saul (3:10)
I'm feeling good. Feeling good. I'll be distracted for most of this game, peeking over at Indiana on the ropes against Northwestern, which is always exciting. I mean, hopefully, we get some big money line upsets the first week in the NHL, but feels good to be back.
As I was telling you guys before, been sitting on some hockey takes and lack of people to talk with, ready to roll.
SPEAKER_4 (3:35)
In Florida, no way.
Ryan Gilbert (3:39)
That's the hockey goldmine down there, lightning at the Panthers. We're talking about those two Florida teams today, along with the Buffalo Sabres and the Montreal Canadiens.
I went to the Flyers game last night, big two-nothing win. Michael DiPietro looked pretty good though in that for your Bruins or Archer. Matt Van Meetschkof, the revenge tour is going to be so sweet. He looked amazing. Joseph Wall, good shutout in his.
Chase Saul (4:01)
Keep those jerseys tucked up.
Ryan Gilbert (4:03)
Keep those jerseys tucked up. Trevor Zegger has got a two-minute penalty for having his jersey. No, keep the jerseys untucked.
SPEAKER_4 (4:11)
Untucked, I'm sorry. Don't listen to me.
Ryan Gilbert (4:14)
Confusing about the jerseys there.
Joel Meyer (4:17)
I think what he means is because they have to half tuck.
A lot of times like David does, Matthew Gans the half tuck, Joe Sackett was legendary for it. But I guess they probably punched that just as equally as the fully tucked jersey.
