Hey, Pardon My Take listeners, you can find every episode on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Prime members can listen ad-free on Amazon Music.

On today's Pardon My Take, presented by DraftKings. It is the week five NFL picks in preview. We go through every game. We also have Playoff Baseball. It's been incredible. We have Anthony Rizzo in studio. Marathon runner, Anthony Rizzo. That's what he'd like to be referred to. He's running the Chicago Marathon on Sunday. We have Fire Fest. And then we're going to recap. The Bucs get their first win of the season. We're going to talk about everything, and it's brought to you by our friends at Pepsi. No game day spread is complete without the great taste of Pepsi Zero Sugar. Ready for it?

Oh, yeah. You spend all week thinking about the wings, nachos or burgers that you're going to dig into a kickoff, but are you pairing it with the right drink? I'm pairing my Pepsi with a nice, large slice of cheese pizza. Nothing goes better, nothing goes better. Pepsi Zero Sugar has a bold, refreshing taste. It doesn't just compliment your favorite tailgate foods. It makes the whole experience and every bite hit better. It's like watching your rival miss a chip shot field goal to lose a big game. Watching your defense make a goal line stand to seal a victory. How about a big hit in October baseball? That's what Pepsi tastes like. Grab Pepsi Zero Sugar to elevate your game day. Tailgating deserves Pepsi. Food deserves Pepsi. I'm gonna take a little whack of this.

Man, that's good. That's Pepsi. Go get Pepsi Zero Sugar today. Okay, let's go.

Welcome to Part of My Take presented by DraftKings. The crown is yours. Today is Friday, October 9th. And the Tampa Bay Buccaneers got a win, boys. I was gonna start with the Cowboys, but you know what? First win of the season. Zack, how are you feeling? That was a win that no one saw coming, including Hank and I who put the Cowboys in our Survivor League.

How are you feeling, Zack?

SPEAKER_2 (2:32)

Season's back.

SPEAKER_1 (2:33)

Season's back?

SPEAKER_2 (2:34)

Yeah, look, the boys are good today. That was good team chemistry.

Season's all the way back. I had about 5% left in my hope tank. Hope tank's unfortunately filled like 3, 3-quarter tank right now.

SPEAKER_3 (2:45)

Wow. That's good to know. So even though it looks like Baker's going to be out an extended period of time, Jalen Daniels showed you enough.

SPEAKER_2 (2:52)

Next man up, you know?

SPEAKER_3 (2:53)

Is he the guy?

SPEAKER_2 (2:55)

Next man up for right now, he's doing, he had, I mean, he had bounds of improvements from last game.

SPEAKER_4 (3:00)

Oh, he was great.

SPEAKER_2 (3:01)

He started out kind of on fire.

SPEAKER_1 (3:04)

He played great. He didn't turn the ball over.

He commanded the offense.

SPEAKER_4 (3:09)

He took a few shots earlier.

SPEAKER_3 (3:10)

He got pounded in the first opening drive. And then I think he realized, I can't do that.

SPEAKER_1 (3:15)

But he did enough. I should stop. What he did, well, the Cowboys Defense, we'll get to the Cowboys. They're poo poo. But he did enough to make it so that you had to at least respect his arm. And then Bucky Irving was phenomenal.

SPEAKER_2 (3:26)

Yeah.

SPEAKER_1 (3:27)

And the Bucs Defense played great.

SPEAKER_2 (3:28)

Bucky broke a big one. He picked up the big yards we need to. Bucky's feet didn't stop moving the entire game.

Yeah. He went to way after the whistle. Just to let you know, I could have got two or three more if I needed to. And then Daniel was able to just extend a couple of plays with his legs. Like, oh, okay. If you're going to give me the space, I'll take it. He'd take it, pick up two easy first downs. It was nice.

SPEAKER_3 (3:46)

Yeah.

SPEAKER_1 (3:47)

It was refreshing, man.

SPEAKER_3 (3:48)

I thought Todd Bowles looked so relieved at the end of the game.

SPEAKER_1 (3:50)

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_3 (3:51)

When it came down to make that decision, whether or not to kick a field goal or go for it on fourth down, he always has this look on his face when he has to make a decision. And it always looks like he's in the smelliest room. Like somebody just farted next to him. His nose crinkles up. I think he's trying to do math in his brain, and that's never a good place for him to be. And he always, I don't know how he does it. It's actually remarkable.

I don't think he's ever made the correct decision on whether to go for it or not. That's one of the cases where old conservative Todd would have done a good job just kicking a field goal, go up by 17 points.
