New York Yankees Take Two of Three Against Mariners | Go Get Em

Chris McMonigle here with you after another series that looks a lot like the last one against the Braves, where the Yankees take the first two, have some exciting wins along the way doing it. The Bats wake up in the second game of the series and they actually score 10 runs. And just when you think maybe they could build on it and take those 10 runs and run with it, for lack of a better term, they end up with another miserable final game of the series. Same as the Atlanta Braves series, same as this one, just completely shut down in the final game. And it is a really weird time. Like it's, and I can understand frustration with what's going on right now, because it's impossible to watch when the offense gets like it did today, which we see all too often, when the offense goes dormant like this and they have four hits in the game and they hardly get runners into scoring position. And you make a base running mistake, which I mean, it's a base running mistake. I don't view it the same as we saw like Dominguez and Javier slide past the base, but still Grisham can't stay on the base. That kind of disrupts an opportunity to score some runs. You have a lead off double in the second, nothing happens.
And they continue to pitch their ass off and you're just looking for the slightest little thing to tie the game, put you ahead and pull off a sweep and try and keep pace with a raised team that doesn't lose. And they can't do it. And as frustrating as that is, it's also juxtaposed against the idea that they're winning, like the Yankees are winning. I saw the clip today that Aaron Boone put out or said in the post game. And I can tell it's one of those things that Yankee fans are going to get mad of. He talked about the idea that, or the Yankee fans are going to get mad with. He talked about, you know, what they're doing right now. And he said, you know, people come up to him on the street and say, hey, don't worry, it'll turn around. And he's like, I just saw a graphic that were 18 and 10 in the last 28 Like, we're doing all right. And that's probably going to bother people because it doesn't feel that way. It certainly doesn't feel that way when the Rays don't lose. And it certainly doesn't feel that way when the Red Sox have now lost, had lost five in a row leading into today.
And now did take a victory in that series against the Blue Jays.

I love him to death. And I'm more jealous of him than anybody else. He is in more adult sports leagues than anyone I've ever met. And in one of his three hockey leagues, he had a late game tonight. I wish I could have five minutes to go play an actual sport. That would be freaking awesome. I was thinking about doing like a Sunday softball, but now my kids have playing tackle football. Their games are on Sunday morning. I can't miss everything and then say, oh, and by the way, I'm playing softball.
Instead of going to see your football games. Not that I would even want to play softball instead of doing that. But yes, Orion's not here. We thank Pete. But so like when the Red Sox are on fire, and I know they've cooled off here and lost five or six, and the Rays go on a West Coast nine game road trip and sweep at nine and O and have now taken over as the best record in baseball. I wouldn't say best team, but if you want to, you can't. I'm not going to argue with you. They have the best record in baseball right now and they keep winning. So 18 and 10 or five and four homestand, like it's not good enough if you want to catch the Rays. But having said that, with the way the bats are being swung right now, with the way Rice looks, with the way Jazz looks, with still waiting on guys to return, scoring two runs a game and dealing with all that they're dealing with, and the competition they're playing, like 18 and 10 sounds pretty damn good. So, I don't blame Boone when he says we're doing all right. I'm sure many Yankee fans will and think, what the hell are you talking about? We're seven games back in the lost column, and that's true. But it's real, like they win this series.
