New Hermes + Claude Plugin Update is AWESOME!

We have some great news for Hermes Agent and Claude fans. So, if you knew before, basically you couldn't use Claude with Hermes anymore. They actually stopped it. And there's a new official plugin from Hermes Agent that allows you to use Claude SDK with your Claude code subscription inside Hermes Agent. So this is something that literally wasn't possible before, but now there's a new official Claude subscription plugin, as you can see right here inside the plugin catalog, the Hermes Agent, which is great news because that means essentially number one, Claude subscription is more powerful than ever. Number two, you can use it inside Hermes. So for example, I've got my Hermes Agent OS here, we've got Claude Opus ready to go, and we can start using these directly. And we could use this with whatever model we prefer to use. So we'll come back to that in a second.

And you can see here, it's connected fine. So I actually created a separate profile called Claude Opus, and then I can use that with Hermes Agent, just typed in working, and it says yes, it's working. And the great thing about that is it's super fast. And also we can use this inside any of our favorite workflows. We could use this with Hermes Oracle, with Hermes Muse, we could use this with Hermes Asteros, whichever custom workflows that we want to use this with when it comes to the agent operating system. So I'm going to talk you through exactly how it works. But essentially what you need to know here is Claude is back inside Hermes agent. And I'm showing you how to run it. You can run it with Claude Opus 5 or whichever model you prefer. I probably wouldn't use it with Fable 5 unless you're okay with the token cost that's going to come with that. And essentially this means that you can now use with the official blogging from News Research Claude with no API key. So there's no API key that is required, no second account or anything like that. And all you need to do is just create one profile with Opus, and then Hermes agent can reach files, run commands, use the web and check its own work as well. And we've already plugged it into the agent OS, which makes it even more powerful. So good news right there. So this essentially means that with your Claude plan, through the official Claude CLI, it runs through Opus, runs through tools and skills, you got the memory profiles, we've got our agent OS chat, and we don't need an API key to use Hermes inside our agent OS. So let's talk through how this works step by step. So the announcement just came out a few hours ago. And the biggest problem with this is like, you know, imagine, for example, you had a gym membership, and then imagine the gym telling you the membership only covers the front room. And then if you want to use the good machines in the back, you have to pay again by the minute. Well, that's basically what running Claude in an agent was like before, because you could subscribe to Claude, but then you also have to use the API as well. Whereas with this system, you know, before, if you already pay for Claude before, if you wanted it inside an agent like this, with tools and a memory and a body, you needed a separate API key and a separate meter, right? Which meant like you had the same brain, two doors, two bills. But this plugin basically closes that second door for you. So this was the old way, and now the new way, right? The Hermes can talk to the Claude app, not to Anthropic. So you already have Claude code set up locally, and then with you, Hermes goes to the plugin, that goes to the Claude CLI, and then you can plug this into Opus 5 or Fable 5 or whatever you prefer. And the way that we've set this up is we have a separate profile, right? So then it loads it as a provider. You can send a message to Hermes in a normal way inside the chat like so.

Your login does the talking. You don't need the API key. Opus 5 can answer for us.

Hermes can run the tools, and then you can just repeat the loop until it's done, right? So it's your message into the profile, Claude CLI starts, Opus 5 answers, Hermes checks the tools, and then it replies. Pretty nice. So it's the same brain, but one door. Now, if you look at the old way versus the new way, the old way was like you have to get an API key, then you have to add a balance to it, then you have to paste that key into Hermes, or you just don't use Hermes with Claude at all.
