It is noon on YouTube, brothers and sisters, friends of the revolution, which means, of course, it is five o'clock somewhere. The Happy Hour Bar is open, and we have actual real football tonight. So excited. I am, of course, your friendly neighborhood bartender, Matthew Berry, excited to be here once again. Before we get into it, before we bring in our guest, a couple of quick things. Number one, still time to play a guillotine league, guillotineleagues.com. Still time to do a draft, you can do one really quickly. Get one in before the, and if you can't get a draft organized tonight, if you don't want to join a league, like there's public leagues available that are going on all the time, you can do one tomorrow, or you can do one Friday. It just, it goes retroactive to the games that will happen tonight and Thursday night, but you can still draft all the way, you know, you can draft throughout the season, to be honest with you, but like you can do a draft Thursday night. I'm doing, actually, I'm actually doing one Thursday night. You can do one Friday or Saturday, you know, Sunday morning, and it just be retroactive to the games that take place Wednesday or Thursday night.
All right, so we've got a great show tonight, and I cannot tell you how excited I am because joining me on the show today is fantasy football royalty, Adam Thielen. For so many years, Adam Thielen, a fantasy football superstar, obviously one of the best wide receivers to play the game, a superstar with the Minnesota Vikings and a superstar with all of us in the world of fantasy football.
Adam has a new podcast out called The Dialed Podcast, wherever you get your podcasts, where he's interviewing superstar athletes about their journey. Joe Mauer, the episode with Joe Mauer, of course, from the twins, out now. So looking forward to checking that out. But Adam, how often did when you were playing, and even to this day, how often does fantasy football come up in your life?
Adam Thielen (2:00)
It comes up all the time. I feel like nowadays people even say it more than ever, like, oh man, I had you on my fantasy team. It was so great. I'm like, hopefully not the last couple of years because it was a little rough.
But no, it's fun to hear. I mean, obviously it's been great for the game, for the NFL. I mean, just absolutely blew up and it's really helped out in a lot of ways. But it definitely, if you don't perform well, or don't get a lot of targets, the fans will let you know. So I had to delete Twitter. I haven't even brought it back because they didn't like when I wasn't getting the ball much and not scoring a lot of fantasy points. But yeah, hear about what fantasy football at the time. It's actually funny you say that because my son now has been, he's about to be 10 and he's been asking like, hey, can we start a little league with the buddies? I'm like, yeah, let's do it. So trying to get that organized for him and get that started.
Matthew Berry (2:51)
Yeah, we gotta do that.
Maybe we'll get your son into a guillotine league here. Wolf John says, I got a thielen. This is gonna be a good episode. That's the other thing is so many nicknames based on your last name, hooked on a thielen, of course, is one of the most famous. But was there a fantasy football team name that you heard a lot that people would tell you? Because there's so many like, you know, thielen it and, you know, yeah. I mean, there's a million based on your last name. Was there one that came to mind when I just asked you that question?
Adam Thielen (3:20)
Yeah, I'm like smiling as you're saying this because I think it's so hilarious because people will come up to me all the time and be like, I got a feeling. And you're like, that was my fantasy name. And I'm like, they think that they're very creative and like they're the only ones. I'm like, I've heard that 13 times this week, but no, I don't know what the most popular one, probably that one, I got a feeling, which I enjoy. Like I like that. You know, anytime that song comes on, I kind of say, you know, I don't say feeling, I say feeling. So I enjoy that one. But yeah, there's a lot of creative names, which sometimes, you know, you get a creative name, you're like, that's pretty good. I haven't heard that one before. But people love to share their fantasy football names, which it's funny because I look back at it. Like when I was in college, I played fantasy football and we had our little crew that played and really loved it and enjoyed it. When I got to league, it was just harder to be able to manage it and do it. So I haven't played in a while. But that was like the thing is like you came up with a super creative name and you thought you were so cool that everyone gives you a hard time. But I guess that's part of the process.
