I came across the performing arts folks thought they were weird, and then I was like, wait, I'm weird.
Diona Reasonover (0:19)
Hey, it's Diona Reasonover.
Brian Dietzen (0:20)
And I'm Brian Dietzen. Welcome to another episode of NCIS Partners & Probies.
Diona Reasonover (0:24)
And we have a very special guest today from NCIS Hawaii.
Brian Dietzen (0:28)
It's Yasmine Al-Bustami.
Diona Reasonover (0:30)
Yes. Oh, so good.
Brian Dietzen (0:32)
I am... She's fantastic.
Diona Reasonover (0:34)
She is fantastic.
Brian Dietzen (0:36)
Yes.
She played, of course, Lucy Tara on the show for its three seasons. And man, she has a bundle of energy. And I love hearing her stories of how she came up in Dallas and...
Yasmine Al-Bustami (0:47)
In business. And in business.
Brian Dietzen (0:49)
In business, she was not going to school for theater and found her way into being on multiple TV shows before she even got to Hawaii. And then of course creates this legendary character that becomes an instant fan favorite.
Diona Reasonover (1:02)
We talk about ways like to live in Hawaii, some of the traditions that they started as a cast. And you know, it was really good to hear that that cast really did act as a family.
Brian Dietzen (1:11)
Yeah. And of course we get into a little bit of the romance between Lucy and Kate, which of course was something that was a big driving factor of the show. I loved, I loved the romance.
Diona Reasonover (1:21)
Yeah. I didn't tell her, but the fans of that were called Kasie, because it was Lucy and Kate.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (1:26)
I remember that, yes.
Diona Reasonover (1:27)
And I remember being like, hey.
Brian Dietzen (1:29)
Hey. So you're saying Kasie from NCIS. Where have we heard that?
Diona Reasonover (1:34)
Can I come too? Yeah, no. Anyway, this is a great conversation and you do not want to miss it, so please stay tuned for our interview with Yasmine Al-Bustami.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (1:48)
All right.
Brian Dietzen (1:49)
Here we are with Yasmine Al-Bustami. Is that right? Hold on. I'm going to take it from the top.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (1:53)
I like it. That was perfect.
Brian Dietzen (1:55)
That was right, right?
Yasmine Al-Bustami (1:55)
Yeah, it was.
Brian Dietzen (1:56)
Okay. I was really nervous about the last one.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (1:59)
No. It's okay.
Brian Dietzen (2:00)
I'm not going to take it again. It's Yasmine Al-Bustami.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (2:02)
Bustami.
Brian Dietzen (2:03)
It does help sometimes. You are our first. Our first.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (2:06)
For me, sometimes I don't know how to say my own name, so I'm like, Bustami.
Diona Reasonover (2:10)
You know, it helps if it helps any Diona Reasonover. People see them letters and they're like, I'm not saying all that.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (2:16)
I know.
Diona Reasonover (2:16)
And they just be saying any old thing.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (2:17)
And I'm sure you get Diana.
Diona Reasonover (2:20)
Diana. No, Sydney, you're going to mess everybody up. Diona.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (2:23)
Sorry.
Diona Reasonover (2:23)
You got it. Like a light on a wall.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (2:25)
Diona. Diona. When a salesperson calls.
Brian Dietzen (2:27)
You go.
Diona Reasonover (2:28)
I'm sorry. Diona.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (2:30)
This is going great.
Brian Dietzen (2:31)
When I get like a political call or a salesperson call, it's always, is Mr. Dietz in there? And I'm like, nope. Like, that's it.
Diona Reasonover (2:38)
That's a really funny way of saying diets. I'm going to start saying that.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (2:41)
Dietzen. Yeah, Dietzen.
Brian Dietzen (2:42)
If you think it's like diet zen, like not quite Buddhist.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (2:46)
Like you're not. It's.
Diona Reasonover (2:47)
That's your meditation in the morning.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (2:48)
Just a little diet zen.
Brian Dietzen (2:49)
A diet like a zen might.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (2:50)
A diet, a zen diet.
Brian Dietzen (2:52)
Yeah, a zen diet.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (2:53)
That's what the world needs right now.
Diona Reasonover (2:55)
Yeah, that would be good. That would be true. That would also be good.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (2:57)
We should all be on a zen diet.
Brian Dietzen (2:59)
We both guest starred on your show.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (3:02)
I know. Cause we were talking about, yeah.
Brian Dietzen (3:04)
I had a wonderful time. It was fantastic. Your set, your crew, that whole group of backers.
Diona Reasonover (3:09)
They're so cool.
Brian Dietzen (3:11)
Granted, I had a bag over my head and my hands were tied behind my back.
Diona Reasonover (3:14)
Willingly. This was not in the script.
Yasmine Al-Bustami (3:15)
This wasn't in the script. That's how we greet guests when people come to visit us in Hawaii. Fine.
