All right, welcome to Wednesday. And boy, am I in a good mood since I just got the word today in two. And Will, did you get it at all? Zero. Do you want to know what it is?
Oh, you're just on six? Okay, I got it in two. He got it in two. In fairness, he got it in two yesterday. And I finally, because I get interrupted so much, I just had to throw in the towel and get him to tell me the word. And I'll do that for him as well if he wants. He's got his opportunity to think for a while here and probably will come up with it. According to forecasters, this is just gonna be the latest in a growing line of warm, humid days past and yet to come. Every fall, winter, and spring, most of us who live in Southeast Texas fall asleep almost every night dreaming that we might get more days and nights when the air is dry and cool.
And every summer morning, when we step outside to what, retrieve the paper, some people still get that, really. We step out for the paper or maybe to walk the dog, and we realize there's no escaping the six month summer we catch down here.
And it does no good to complain about the humidity, about the heat, because that is just like, that's like nectar to the sweltering moisture in the air, it keeps the humidity level higher, pretty much higher than the IQs of many New Yorkers and Californians, at least the ones who are still there. Former New Yorkers, former Californians, they get their eyes opened up once they get out of there, and they realize that there is more to this world than just taxes and communism.
We sweat here, therefore we are. Southeast Texans.
So, more of the same for four or five days, too, followed by, you guessed it, more of the same for several months. It'll be at least, at least October, I would say, before we can get a really legitimate cool snap. Maybe take the temperature of the high for the day down to about, I don't know, 84, 85
You can kiss those things goodbye for a long time. And like I said, I've lived here almost all my life, and it's gonna be okay. It's just gonna be okay. By the way, you can mark today on your calendar as the first day this year that the National Hurricane Center showed something to look at on its map of the Gulf of America and the Atlantic Ocean. It's a nothing basically at present, but it might become a something.
Zero percent chance in I think 48 hours and only a 10% chance in the next seven days, something like that. But it does deserve recognition. It is a reminder that we are in storm season. Only by 10 days, but nonetheless in storm season. The stock market also opened a little on the stormy side this morning with three of the four big indicators in the red again. There's typically been some recovery throughout the day over the past week or two when it started off so ugly. And I haven't checked to see what it was that I missed. I was out grabbing some paper off the printer when the Fox report went off. So I'm not sure. I'll check during the break and see if it's worth talking about. Numbers still not bad overall, but red is red. So, and especially if it's gold, which shed $113 an ounce overnight and was sitting at not quite $4,174 an ounce about an hour and a half ago. Oil kicked up a bit again thanks to the continued cat and mouse game being played in the Middle East. I have just about had it with Iran violating ceasefires too and us not going ahead and just putting an end to that reckless regime. I saw a story and I didn't get a chance to source it twice, or not source it twice, but check it twice, about a force of all those Middle Eastern nations except Iran getting together to patrol and safeguard the Strait of Hormuz. And if they will go ahead and do that and truly will enforce that, who knows, maybe we can get this oil price down again where it used to be. Where it should be, by the way. So, into the news. What have I got? Two minutes, Will? About two and a half, okay. Barely an hour and a half ago, President Trump signed a $70 billion reconciliation package that's going to fund the Board of Patrol and ICE through 2029
