Welcome back to the Daily Crypto Roundup. Bitcoin has climbed back above $81,000, but one of its biggest corporate buyers has just been handed a new problem. MSCI has approved rules that could push Strategy and Metaplanet out of global equity indexes, putting billions in passive stock demand at risk. We also have Deutsche Bank weeks from crypto custody, circle targeting 40 new markets, and an unusual new way to bet the performance of crypto companies.

At the time of recording, Bitcoin is around $81,865, up about 0.2% over 24 hours after trading between roughly $81,648 and $82,806 today.

Ethereum is near $2,455, up 2.6%.

XRP is $1.33.

BNB is around $726.68, down 0.4%.

Solana is $105.51, up 0.8%.

Cardano is just under $0.227, almost flat, and Chainlink is $12.48, up 1.1%.

The clearest move is Ethereum's stronger rebound, but Bitcoin is still struggling to turn yesterday's recovery from below $80,000 into a convincing break higher.

The biggest new development is MSCI's decision to exclude companies that function mainly as passive investment vehicles from its global investible market indexes. Strategy. The world's largest corporate holder of Bitcoin and Japan's Metaplanet are on the potential deletion list. Sharp Link and several other digital asset treasury companies are on a watch list. MSCI will publish the final list on November 11th. Any removals take effect after trading closes on November 30th. Reuters reported that strategy shares fell about 4.2% today, even as Bitcoin was modestly higher. That split tells you why this story matters. Owning a Bitcoin treasury company is not the same trade as owning Bitcoin. JPMorgan analysts have estimated that excluding strategy could lead to roughly $2.8 billion of stock outflows. That would be forced selling of strategy shares by index tracking funds, not forced selling of the company's Bitcoin. So this is not an announcement that hundreds of thousands of Bitcoin are about to hit the market. The second order effect is more important. Strategy pioneered the model of selling equity and debt to fund additional Bitcoin purchases. If index removal weakens demand for its shares, compresses its valuation premium, or increases its cost of capital, raising the next dollar for Bitcoin becomes harder. Metaplanet and smaller treasury companies face the same basic pressure. There is a counterargument. Strategy still has a software business, and Michael Saylor has repeatedly argued that the Bitcoin treasury is a separate business segment, rather than proof that the company is an investment fund. Active investors can also buy the shares whether MSCI includes them or not. The November 11th list is therefore the key test, not today's headline alone. Would you still treat strategy as a leveraged Bitcoin proxy if index funds become forced sellers? Or does that break the link between the stock and the asset it holds? The broader market is recovering, but the quality of the rebound is mixed. Bitcoin briefly fell below $80,000 yesterday before buyers returned. Today, it has held around $82,000 despite another week's session for artificial intelligence-linked technology shares. The Nasdaq was lower in early United States trading, while the 10-year Treasury yield moved around 5.12%.

Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh did not rule out an October rate increase, but market pricing for one fell to roughly 15%, down from close to 45% immediately after Wednesday's inflation report. The less encouraging signal is fund demand. Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded only about $5 million of net inflows on Thursday after losing roughly $261 million on Wednesday. Ether funds lost around $60 million.

Solana funds nearly $10 million. And Solana products have now had nine consecutive outflow days. CoinShares separately reported $434 million of global digital asset investment product outflows so far this week, linking the withdrawal to hotter inflation, stronger retail sales and higher for longer interest rate risk. Binance institutional head Catherine Chen called the inflation sell-off a sentiment shock, not a structural break. That is a useful argument, but the falsifier is simple. If Bitcoin loses the $80,000 area again while fund flows stay negative, this rebound will look more like short-term positioning than durable demand. Now to traditional finance. Deutsche Bank says its first institutional digital asset custody service is only weeks from launch in Germany.

Gerald Podobnyk, the bank's corporate banking co-head, told Reuters the first phase will support major cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Stablecoin conversion services are expected later, followed by tokenized deposits and support for issuing blockchain-based securities such as digital bonds. The bank plans to expand the custody platform into Asian financial centers in 2027 Podobnyk said banks will need to offer tokenized or blockchain services alongside traditional products, but not necessarily to replace what we are doing today. That distinction matters. Deutsche Bank is not becoming a permissionless crypto exchange. It is building regulated custody and settlement inside an existing institutional relationship. The launch test is not the announcement. It is whether clients can open live custody accounts, which assets are actually available on day one, what fees apply and when stable coin conversion goes live. Still, moving from a vague roadmap to a launch measured in weeks is a meaningful step. Circle is making a different institutional bet. Chief Executive Jeremy Allaire told Reuters the company plans to enter around 40 emerging and developing markets, with demand growing across Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. USDC circulation reached about 73.3 billion dollars in the second quarter, up 19% from a year earlier. But it still represents roughly 25% of the stable coin market against nearly 60% for Tether's USDT. Allaire described the shift as an inflection point from early adoption to mainstream scaling. Circle's case is that regulatory clarity, its infrastructure and demand for cross border settlement can turn stable coins into ordinary payment tools. The risk is that more countries also means more licensing, reserve, banking and cybersecurity exposure. Adoption should be measured in active payment volume and redemption reliability, not the number of markets on a slide. If you want to protect your crypto with a hardware wallet, our Ledger link is in the description. There is also a sobering new data point on where illicit exposure is concentrating. Blockchain analytics company Global Ledger says it identified $187.75 billion of high-risk exposure across 99 exchanges between 2021 and 2025 According to its report, 10 platforms accounted for 90.9% of flagged inflows. Sanctions linked activity became the largest source of exposure in 2025, while USDT on Tron represented 68% of flagged inflows and more than 80% of flagged outflows. Those are the company's findings, not proof that every flagged dollar was criminal. The methodology traces links through as many as five blockchain transfers, which can capture indirect exposure as well as direct deposits. But the concentration is the important policy signal. Regulators and compliance teams may increasingly focus on a small group of venues, large transfers and specific stablecoin rails, rather than treating all crypto activity as equally risky. Now the long-term security story. Nine crypto companies have formed the Quantum Alliance to develop common standards for quantum-resistant blockchain security. Researchers cited by CoinDesk estimate that public key exposure could eventually put wallets holding about 6.4 million Bitcoin at risk, including roughly 1.1 million attributed to Satoshi Nakamoto.
