Welcome to episode 811 Most of what we call doubt is actually a refusal to release the version of the plan we wrote first. Most of what we call doubt, I'm sorry about this, a lot of times you may doubt something that you know you need to do or feels like, you know, it feels right in the system, but different than you had anticipated doing. And so you're like, no, that can't be it. No, I'm not going to do that. No, like that's that that can't be the direction. Why not?
Maybe it's just different than the version that you had planned, right? And so I want to basically talk about why what feels like losing faith might just be losing control, which I don't believe we ever really had. We're just trying to control the outcomes. Losing faith is you're not losing faith. You're actually just, in fact, if anything, you're gaining it by letting go. And that's hard. That's also a very contrarian thing. It's like the almost feels like the opposite, right? It's like, what do you mean just put this thing down and let this thing go and not do this plan that I've been working on for so long? Well, maybe it's led to a different version or a higher step that's being called to. And maybe the version that you created is harder to get to where you're trying to go. So in this episode, I want to talk about why most doubt isn't actually doubt in God. It may be an attachment to your own version of how things should go, right?
It's so easy to be so singularly focused. I know some of you are like, really? I mean, like on a particular goal. And I was thinking about this. I won't use the company, but I remember I was consulting with this brand years ago. And a particular product was doing well, but it was starting to have flailing sales. It just wasn't trying to, it couldn't get to the place they wanted to, which they wanted to get to the 10 million mark with it. And they had birthed a different product because of this product, a different and adjacent product that was just taking off. It hadn't gotten better sales in the current product that they had, but it was just naturally taking off. And I was telling them, I'm like, I have a question. I'm like, why do you have to get to the goal number through this product when maybe you can do it through this product over here? And they're like, well, no, that wasn't the plan. I'm like, yeah, but maybe that's the new plan.
I was like, you're so stuck in that it's gotta be this product and this number as if you're trying to achieve the metric by any means necessary when technically it birthed another product. So a new version, a different version was presented to you naturally is growing, and all you have to do is nurture it more, and it's even better and gets you probably even maybe past the goal of this original product.
It's funny how we do that, right? Also, I want to talk about how we mislabel control as faith, then call it doubt when God doesn't follow our script. Isn't that funny? Like, no, I'm showing up, I'm making this thing happen. Like, no, you're trying to control the outcome. Now, I'm not saying that we have to execute. You guys hear me say this all the time. I want to show up and do the work. I love doing the work. I love being in the game and doing the work. I just want to be doing the right work in the right game. That's the difference. I don't want to paddle upstream. I want to go downstream. I want to go with the flow of what I'm supposed to be doing. And so you may be trying to force a door open, you may be trying to force a path, God's like, that's not really the script I have for you. And then if it's not fully getting to its realm that you want, you may have doubt, like, oh, God doesn't want this for me. Like, no, maybe God just wants a different path for you.
The reframe is powerful because it's necessary. Think about it. If you feel like it's something you're constantly trying to force, ask yourself, does God have a different version of this?
