Thank you so much for being here this morning. If we haven't got the opportunity to meet, my name is Kevin, this is my wife Mel on the front row, and we are honored to lead here at New Vision, and we are so grateful that you chose to be here today in the room and online in the first week of June. Like summer started at what I feel like a month ago, but now we're like in summer. And it's going to go by so quick, we're going to be at the beginning of school before we know it, which is crazy. And I'll be crying because our daughter will be going away to college this year, and I don't really know how I feel about that. So I'm still trying to convince her to go online and stay home. I don't know if that will work or not. So we are in our second week of a brand-new series, Stories We Thought We Knew. And what I've loved about this series is as we continue to go back to stories that many of us have heard probably since we are kids, we get to discover that the scripture actually in the story grows up with us. It's one of the cool things that we get to experience. Like, think about it this way. Like when we were kids, when I was a kid, we talked about Noah's Ark, and we would talk about the animals and the flood and the rainbow.
And now in his adult, I see a lot more clearly God's grace painted throughout his story.
And the reason why that happens is because scriptures tell us that God's Word is living and active. And that means that I can read the same story a different number of times, and there's potential each time I read it that God speaks something new to me because his Word is living and active. And so, I'm excited to get into today's story so that we can see what God would say to us through a story that we've probably heard before, a story that we thought we knew. So I'm going to pray, and then Sammy is going to introduce today's story. Let's pray. Jesus, we love you. We are so grateful to be in your presence. We thank you that we get to spend time in your house with your people in your presence. So as we begin to look into your word, I pray that you would look into us, that you would speak to where we are. You would talk to us about the weight that we're carrying, the things that we're doing, and who we are. God, I pray that we would hear your voice clearly today. I pray that you would anoint me to communicate your word to your people. Help me to do it clearly and confidently in a way that we hear your voice more than we hear my own. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Once there was a guy named Moses, and he was taking care of his father and was sheep.
And then he saw a burning bush, but it wasn't a centigree. So Moses went back, went to the bush, and God said to Moses, step back, this is holy ground, and take off your flip flops. So Moses did that. And then God said to Moses, children are being mean to my people. You go tell Pharaoh to let my people go. And if the people say who's told you to do this, say this, you will say, I am who I am, said.
And you, then God said to them, if the Pharaoh doesn't listen, I will send plagues. And then God said to Moses, I tell all the Israelite women to go to Egyptian houses and get silver, gold, and clothes.

All right, this morning, we are gonna talk about Moses and the Burning Bush. Would you turn it with me in your Bibles to Exodus chapter three. It's where we're gonna begin this morning. And if you don't have a Bible with you, it'll be up here on the screen. You can read it along with me. It says, one day, Moses was tending the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock far into the wilderness and came to Sinai, the mountain of God.
Where we start in this story is probably not. If I was a betting man, I would bet that Moses didn't think this is where he would be at 80 years old. Even though Moses was born into slavery, God made a way for him to stay alive and also to be raised. He's been the first 40 years of his life in the palace, living as Pharaoh's daughter's son.
