Hi, I'm Madigan, and you're listening to Your Angry Neighborhood Feminist, a podcast that explores the world through a personal feminist perspective.
Hello, everyone. Welcome back. I am giving you more news. As I mentioned in the episode that went out on Saturday, there have been so many different news topics going on in the last week, couple weeks or so, that I've wanted to touch on that I had to extend this episode a little bit further. But before I get into any of the news, as is the new usual on this show, I am starting this episode out to ask for all of your help and support. As you all know by now, I am looking for a new network, and that sucks, but hopefully, I am able to find something that is even better than what I was given before. But as I go out and look for something bigger and better, I do need your help, and the best way for you to help and support the show would be to go to your Apple Podcast app if you have an iPhone and leave a five-star review and just a little blurb about why you enjoy the show. It truly, truly helps so much. Any kind of engagement really, really is beneficial. Another great way that you can help support the show would be to send any episode that you enjoy over to your friends either through social media, sharing it on your stories, sending episodes through text so that I can get more listeners. Getting my numbers up and getting some new reviews are probably going to be the best thing for me at the moment because new networks are going to be looking at those things, and I want to look good. I also want to thank everyone who has left reviews recently. I want to give a particular shout out to my buddy Joe.
I have made friends with Joe through other podcasts that I've worked on. I've never met him in real life, but he is like the sweetest, sweetest man who always shows me such love and support.
Thank you, Joe, for the new review. I really, really appreciate it.
Lastly, as always, I want to thank all of you for not showing pity on me in these reviews. That's not going to look good. But so far, all of you are making me look very, very good, probably better than you should be making me look. Y'all are so nice. I literally can't take it. And one more thing before I get into the bulk of this episode, another way you can support is by going to patreon.com/angryneighborhoodfeminist, where you get all of these episodes early and ad free for just a few bucks a month. Of course, I am appreciative of any kind of support, and there is no pressure to join me over on Patreon. But I do appreciate my patrons. Oh, so very much. All right. Now that I am done with all of that, let's get into some more news. So I had mentioned in Saturday's episode that I was going to be talking about the potential live streaming of a firing squad that would have been ending the life of Nadal Hassan, who perpetrated the 2009 Fort Hood shooting in which he murdered 13 people and injured 32 others. He was actually an Army Medical Corps psychiatrist, and he eventually admitted to the shootings during his court martial in August of 2013, and said that he wanted to stop the United States soldiers from going to Afghanistan to kill Muslims. Hassan himself is a Muslim man. This is a very complicated story in that there's a lot to it. And I started working on Nidal's history and going into the crime and everything like that. But right after I was done doing the last news episode, I went to do a little bit more work on that and noticed that Trump actually stopped the possibility of the live stream from happening. But now I guess loved ones of the victims are allowed to still attend the execution, but it will not be live streamed. I'm really, really glad that decision was made because I think that could have been something that was very, very damaging for anyone to witness. So because of that, I've decided to kind of shelf that conversation, especially because I have just been getting an influx of videos coming out of France of the protests that are going on over there. And I thought it was going to be more pressing for me to speak about what's going on in Paris and spreading to other parts of Europe rather than focusing on the now debunked live streamed execution. So let's get into that, shall we? On September 17th, teachers in France held a strike fighting against a lack of resources and staff.
