All right, we have just about made it to the finish line. Talking season will officially be over on Saturday. College Football Week Zero is upon us. NFL roster cut down day is at the end of the week. And boy, do we have news in Cleveland. The Browns have officially named their QB one. We got a fun show on deck for you. Welcome in to Money Moves, Stormy Bonantoni, Jonathan Von Tobel with you. We're holding it down for the next two hours. How are you buddy? How was your weekend?
**Stormy Buonantony** (0:39)
Pretty good, pretty good.
Went out quite a bit. So there was a lot of-
**Jonathan Von Tobel** (0:43)
Hardy, Hardy.
**Stormy Buonantony** (0:44)
Yeah, there was a lot. Well, as you kind of know too, that was kind of our last weekend for the most part.
It's a little lighter over the next couple of weeks, but football season is kind of in full swing. It's obviously very busy for you. You're gonna start traveling after next week. I'll start working about seven days a week in two weeks from now. So it's kind of the last hurrah of also people leaving and going and whatnot. So kind of celebrating that as well. So it was a busy weekend and the fantasy people were here. So Friday night we had to come out as well.
**Jonathan Von Tobel** (1:10)
You and a lot of people took advantage of that open bar upstairs. I heard it was a time.
**Stormy Buonantony** (1:14)
It was, it was a lot of fun. So my life has been very tough over the last couple of days, obviously.
But very glad and look, it's week zero. That is what I am most excited about. Very much looking forward to this Saturday too. So I feel pretty good. What about you, Stormy? You just stayed in your house all weekend because you got a facial.
**Jonathan Von Tobel** (1:30)
Yes, and I had a great time. As you know, I bought an espresso machine recently, and that is my whole personality now.
**SPEAKER_4** (1:36)
I saw you on Saturday.
**Jonathan Von Tobel** (1:38)
I made my first home espresso martinis, which is going to be probably a new problem for me moving forward. But it was a riveting weekend for me as well. I had a great time, watched a lot of television, watched a lot of preseason football, which is something actually we're going to dive into here as we kick things off time for the rundown.
**Stormy Buonantony** (1:57)
It's time for the top headlines and topics of the day.
**SPEAKER_1** (2:01)
This is the rundown.
**Jonathan Von Tobel** (2:03)
All right, we're going to dive into some second impressions. JVT, week two of the NFL preseason in the books, another successful weekend for dogs and under betters after what was it? 11-4-1 ATS, the opening weekend. Dogs followed it up by going 10-5-1 ATS in week two. Unders currently 2013 through the first two weeks of action as well.
**Stormy Buonantony** (2:22)
Yeah, I think there's a lot. Look, it's a short sample size. I'm not really buying into a lot, but the underdogs you mentioned have done very, very well, especially if you're betting them on a money line perspective. To me, it's really about those line moves too, right? When you're looking at the failure of which those line moves over the first few weeks have not really panned out. So maybe week three will matter, but it seems, Stormy, that preseason games where you have a lot of changing personnel and lesser players to an extent, they're all great athletes, there's a lot of variance involved in those. And so it's probably hard to gauge what's going to happen in those contests, even with information based on potentially 20 snaps in total.
**Jonathan Von Tobel** (2:56)
So you're just still reveling in your Green Bay win, sounds like. I can just feel it emanating from across the desk here. Sure.
**Stormy Buonantony** (3:02)
But to your point, for those who don't remember, at Green Bay plus six and a half, we talked about that like all week almost, it just doesn't make any sense. But seriously, you're moving lines because again, what we have, so games with line moves of two or more points, three and four against the spread, against the closing line. We can go through the couple of examples of them, but the two strong ones, Denver opens three and a half, gets up to six and a half, doesn't even come close, gets smoked. How about Chicago, going from plus two to minus three and a half. Philly, plus one and a half to minus one and a half doesn't get there either. So I just think as we have discussed, maybe we'll remember it for next preseason as the preseason is almost over. But facing four point line moves off of information that essentially affects 20 plays, maybe we're talking about an opening couple of drives. I just don't get why we've moved so strong and you've benefited if you've been playing against them.
