Yep, obviously, that was reported, and yeah, we confirmed that this morning that that's happened. So management were great to deal with, and Geelong were aware. So Grime was heading overseas, so if anything was going to move in the next week and a half, then we needed to have something like that. So I think it's unlikely that Grime makes a move west, but we're still open to it. It'll be just more if Geelong are. What's the conversation been like with the cats?
I haven't had a formal conversation with the cats yet on Grime. Has he got an interest in going at the moment?
Mark Duffield (1:23)
Do you think he could be swayed?
SPEAKER_3 (1:25)
You'd have to ask him that, to be fair. I don't think so, to be honest. I think he's a pretty loyal guy.
The plane's a pretty good footy down there at the cat, so we obviously had a little slight interruption with a bit of injury this year, but yeah, he's pretty committed there. So we'll do our best, but obviously, there's a tipping point as to how far we'll go.
Paul Heath (1:41)
It's Matt Clarke, the West Coast List Manager, talking about Ryan Myers. It's just...
Paul Heath has joined me in this year. Do you think this one's much ado about nothing, or do you think there's something there? I mean, Toby Green is arriving, and Ryan Myers spent time in the VFL this year. Now, he did have a partial ACL tear this year. So one, that is a concern for West Coast. They need to make sure that's okay. So that's a reason to do a medical. If you think there's any chance this guy will be joining the club.
But two, to have the medical, you would think that you're at least entertaining something. And no one's ruling this out. They're all just saying it's very unlikely.
Mark Duffield (2:24)
But whose side is Matt Clark on? Oh, he's a very little guy, all these sort of things. No, just say he wants out.
Paul Heath (2:31)
Good.
Mark Duffield (2:32)
Try and get it your way a little bit, don't you?
Paul Heath (2:34)
Oh, I don't know about say he wants out, because you're putting words in his mouth. You might put his nose out of the joint. But just sort of say, look, we think we have opportunities for Ryan and really it's up to him to decide while he's away as to whether those opportunities appeal to him, whether there were as many opportunities to him to play senior footy at Geelong if Toby Green comes in. Toby Green will play pretty much where Ryan Myers plays. I think that's a bit of a watch. I think everyone's saying it's unlikely. Let's take them at their word and think it's unlikely.
But you have to put a watch on it given that there's been a medical done.
Mark Duffield (3:15)
We've gone through a lot of the mechanisms that would make you think that a deal could be in the pipeline. And we get he's overseas and all that sort of stuff, but it's still a bit of work to do if you're not at all interested to turn and leave the club. I would think.
It's a lot.
Paul Heath (3:32)
Yeah, there's a lot of bulldust spoken.
Mark Duffield (3:36)
Big time.
Paul Heath (3:38)
A bloke sort of texted me a few years back and said, when it comes to the trade period, AFL stands for a festival of lives.
Mark Duffield (3:48)
That's pretty good. I don't mind that.
Graham might have you in his crosshairs because he says, Hi Duffield, if viney comes to West Coast, where does that leave you? As it's his midfield minutes along with Kelly, that viney should be taking rather than a young mid. I don't mind the move, but it shouldn't come at the expense of development time for younger players. Cheers, Graham and Padbury.
