She looks at her box. She shakes the umpire's hand and she's got this big, beaming smile on her face and she raises her hands in the air and then she celebrates, lets all the emotion out. We thought it was possible when Mirra Andreeva burst onto the scene as a 15 year old in Madrid, beating Leila Fernández and Beatriz Haddad-Maya.
And then as a 15, 16 year old pushing her way to the fourth round of Wimbledon, I think she was in the third or fourth round of Roland-Garros that year. She beat Azarenka, she almost beat Keys at Wimbledon. And from that moment, we thought she might be about to win a Grand Slam. She's running to the tunnel to go and celebrate with her box.
This felt inevitable for Andreeva's career. And as the match went on, it became more and more inevitable as we see Maja Chwalińska drinking and commiserating with herself. Mirra is celebrating with her box. Carson, what is your initial reaction to this moment of Mirra Andreeva winning Roland-Garros 2026?

It is so cool just seeing the embrace that she and her mom are having right now. Good moment for them. Yeah. I mean, that's one of the closest teams of anyone on the WTA Tour, right up there with like Chalińska's team. So yeah, I think like that's on her winning the title. Like, obviously, as you said, we've in a way kind of felt like this was coming for a few years now. Like it's kind of more of a matter of when than if with her. So she's finally reached the mountain top here in Roland-Garros.
Yeah, a really special moment and, yeah, first Grand Slam title.
Probably not the last. I don't think that's too bold of a prediction, but we'll see what happens.

I mean, she did wobble serving for the championship, but that is to be expected. That is, you know, we won't fault her for that.
