McBride disappointed with Knicks decision. Miles McBride is disappointed with the Knicks not giving him a contract extension. He said the following about that situation. According to McBride, he's disappointed with hopes to reach an agreement with the Knicks. McBride said the following on his contract situation and wanting to remain with the Knicks. This information comes directly from McBride via Kristen Winfield of the New York Daily News. According to them, I love being in New York. Obviously, I've been here my whole career.
I'm a little disappointed. Of course, you want to obviously come to the right terms, and I want to be in New York. So yeah, it's a little hard at times, but I'm gonna be professional. I want to go out and do my job. So that's in my ability, and to help the team win for as long as I'm with the team.
McBride also said the following on handling the uncertainty surrounding his future and hoping to reach an agreement. According to McBride, not just the manual quickly, but in the NBA, you see it all the time with contract disputes leading to trades, and you just have to be a professional. You can't worry about those things. I hope we come to some type of agreement. I've played through injury. I've been through a lot with this team, and I've worked my way into being a key guy. So you know, I'd love to get something done. Even Mike Brown said the following on Deuce McBride's potential contract extension.
He wants to be here. We want him to be here. That's something that I have faith in Leon and even Deuce's representatives to figure that out. McBride also said the following. Obviously, I love being in New York. I'd love to continue my career here, and my career here. Best fans, feel like we've done obviously something great this past year, and the years leading up to that, and I want to continue with this team.
I've addressed my disappointment a little bit earlier with some of my comments, but I'll let the front office and my agency handle that.
Deuce also addressed James Dolan's comments regarding not going into the Second Apron. He said the following about that. According to McBride, he said the comments from owner James Dolan about his desire to stay under the NBA Second Apron of the salary cap didn't concern him with his contract talks. According to Deuce, No, no. At the end of the day, it's a business. I'm paid to play the game I love, and I get an opportunity to go out there, and whoever I'm out there with, I want to give it my all. McBride is also not going to let this contract situation affect his game on the court, and he said as much in this following statement. According to McBride, I feel like in a sense, every year you have to prove yourself. There's uncertainty across the board for everybody in the league. Everybody is going for a big contract. This and that. I don't let it really bother me. At the end of the day, I just want to go out there, give it my shot, play my best basketball. McBride also finally addressed being healthy, and how unhealthy he was during the postseason. According to McBride, to go through a surgery in an area where you need it, the easy medical term is a sports hernia, but it was a lot more complex than that. Having a summer under me, getting back to fully healthy, it's been so much better to be able to move the way I want to move. McBride called it crazy regarding how unhealthy he was during the playoff run. The postseason wasn't the best time for McBride, as he struggled with health and consistency.
In describing the procedure, McBride said they, in a sense, took my hip flexor, my ab, and my groin, and they pulled it and put it into my pelvis. And they did that on both sides. Everything you do is in that core section, that groin section. So trying to keep up with those young guys in the finals, it was tough.
McBride also discussed how difficult it was dealing with everyday situations, given that injury that he had. Listen to what he had to say. Trying to open a door, trying to reach for a remote. Everything you do is in that core section. I'm feeling a lot better. It's kind of crazy thinking about how unhealthy I was playing through that playoff run.
