Hello.

Georgia Hardstark (0:17)

And welcome.

Karen Kilgariff (0:18)

To My Favorite Murder.

Georgia Hardstark (0:19)

The mini-sode.

Karen Kilgariff (0:20)

Can we read you? Here's our stories. This one's a special episode because we just asked for shame stories, things that you're ashamed of, like embarrassing stories, right?

Georgia Hardstark (0:32)

Yes, and we have found some great ones to the point where we think maybe we should do a dedicated episode or a dedicated something.

Karen Kilgariff (0:42)

Something about it because it's funny and they're great and they made me feel better about myself. And I feel like it's like we're doing a service to everyone everywhere that everyone has done something embarrassing.

Georgia Hardstark (0:53)

Yes. So it's basically we're saying, welcome to Shamtown.

Karen Kilgariff (0:57)

That's right.

Georgia Hardstark (0:58)

We've been here.

Karen Kilgariff (0:59)

Yeah.

Georgia Hardstark (1:00)

Or we're so glad we're not you.

Karen Kilgariff (1:02)

Right.

Georgia Hardstark (1:03)

Everybody gets relief.

Karen Kilgariff (1:04)

Everyone laughs except for you.

Georgia Hardstark (1:06)

We enjoy ourselves. Maybe you don't as much.

Karen Kilgariff (1:07)

Yeah.

Georgia Hardstark (1:08)

But then we'll tell stories so you don't, like we won't laugh, but you can laugh at us.

Karen Kilgariff (1:11)

It's basically a public service and you're welcome.

Georgia Hardstark (1:14)

So shut up.

Karen Kilgariff (1:15)

Shut the up. Am I first or you're first?

Go first.

Georgia Hardstark (1:18)

Yeah.

Karen Kilgariff (1:19)

Celebrity encounter. I accidentally kidnapped someone famous as kid.

Georgia Hardstark (1:25)

Oh no.

Karen Kilgariff (1:27)

Hello ladies. My family and I visited LA from Kansas this past New Year's to see the Rose Bowl Parade and attend the football game. Welcome. I have a husband and three sons, ages 9, 13, and 16

The level of noise, the volume, and smell.

Georgia Hardstark (1:43)

An Axe body spray.

Karen Kilgariff (1:44)

Honey, you should take a year off.

It says, which is important here. One of the days in town we visited the Academy Museum on Wilshire Boulevard. We walked in, wide open space, lots to look at, and we headed towards the ticket counter. It bends around and I was looking up at the sign that said prices, info, etc. As I'm looking, I put my arms around my nine-year-old son in front of me, like a little hug and pull him towards me. The following is what happened in a split second in my head. Hmm, weird. Theo wasn't wearing a puffer coat. Theo doesn't have a puffer coat. Oh my God. I had grabbed someone else's son and pulled him towards me.

I let go and jumped back. Somehow, the kid was unfazed and the parents were busy up ahead. I quickly stepped back behind my own kids and told my husband, okay, so breathing heavily, but the crisis is averted.

We then bought tickets and made our way to the exhibits. This was the 50th anniversary of Jaws year, so there was a huge floor-wide exhibit to the movie. One area was showing the special zoom-in camera techniques used in the movie. A couple was there trying it out with a museum helper assisting them. I stopped to watch the process for a moment when I met eyes with the woman of the couple. She looked at me looking at her, staring at each other, it slowly hit me. Oh my God, Tiffany Amber Thiessen's son was the boy I grabbed downstairs at the ticket counter.

Georgia Hardstark (3:05)

What? What?

Karen Kilgariff (3:08)

Tiffany Amber Thiessen.

Georgia Hardstark (3:09)

Dude, that's so specific.

Karen Kilgariff (3:11)

And it's so, yeah.

Georgia Hardstark (3:12)

It's like OLA.

Karen Kilgariff (3:13)

It's so, you grab that person's son. And then Tiffany was not privy to my thoughts. So my guess is she's staring at me like, no, don't say hi, don't say who I am and cause a stir. I was looking back thinking, oh no, she thinks I'm a crazy fan who wants to let everyone know she's here, but nope. I was thinking, oh no, oh no. And then also I have to tell everyone I know that I sort of abducted Kelly Kapowski's baby boy.

Georgia Hardstark (3:34)

Abducted is strong.

Karen Kilgariff (3:35)

Yeah, yeah. Well, she held him for ransom kind of.

Georgia Hardstark (3:38)

Yeah, that's right.

Karen Kilgariff (3:39)

Again, I skirted over to my husband and said, you know the boy I grabbed downstairs thinking it was Theo? And I told him the story. Whew, well, all was well and no words were exchanged. No cops were called. My own three sons, husband and I, enjoyed the rest of the museum and LA. Love the food.

Thank you.
