Hey, what's going on, everybody? Welcome to The Daily AI Show. Today is September 24th, 2026 And with me today to get the day started is Andy. Hey, what's going on? Jump in the comments. Thanks for being with us. And hey, Andy, everything looks live today. So no new intros into today's show, which would be nice. I did edit those out of the two edited shows over the last couple of days. So our folks watching the replay edited won't see all the craziness.

But yeah, I think we had some kind of cool information, not only more information coming out about people using the major models, but what struck me as like one of the more interesting ones, I'm just trying to get it up on to the screen here, is coming out of the hype coming out of Muse, which I know you talked about on the show before.

And I was saying, I've used a little bit, that's Meta's agent app, if you will. Although I guess internally they call it Jolly or Jolly is Muse or I lost track of that. But apparently they refer to it as Jolly. But maybe that's the underlying structure or something. I lost track of which was which on that. But regardless, Zuckerberg was at their their Connect event, their annual Connect event, and he definitely had some announcements as far as where things are going with Muse. So obviously, it's been you talked about how it's been one of the or is the fastest downloaded. What was the thing with the app? It was like the fastest.

Andy (1:31)

Yeah, over 500,000 users within one week.

Brian (1:35)

Yeah. So clearly people were interested enough. And that doesn't tell us what the usage day in, day out.

Andy (1:42)

I may have misspoken, it might be 500 million. That sounds probably more real. Yeah, that's more like a meta release.

Brian (1:49)

Yeah.

But look, I mean, look, Meta was Facebook. It was Meta. Why? Because they put all their chips in on the Metaverse. And we know where that went. And then AI came out. And not to say Meta hasn't had good successes with things like Oculus. I think you could call their glasses a success because that was a hard market to get into. And they're still putting out new products.

You know, say what you will. People will have opinions about cameras on glasses and that part of it. But it's successful. I mean, they've sold enough of them to keep making them. It's not like it died on the vine with Ray-Ban or anything like that. So obviously, they're making headway here. But Muse seems to be a whole other new category that Meta is definitely pushing into. It's built off of their Muse Spark model on the back end. But the big things that came out of this is not only will there be integration with glasses, as you would expect, but some of the other things that came out of here were Muse will run on your Mac. So Meta says it's bringing Muse computer work to Mac. The company has previously talked about Muse coming to Mac and spent more time on Wednesday providing a few details. They'll be able to delegate tasks to the agent and much like other popular agents from OpenAI and Anthropic, Muse will be able to operate any app on a user's desktop. Says Muse is going to get its own e-mail address, which you can imagine is probably important to do, especially if it's going out and signing up or connecting or doing tasks for you, depending on what permissioning you give it. That doesn't surprise me at all. I thought for a while now that agents would have e-mail. It's that grab back into what we deal with with human e-mails. So I wasn't surprised to see that. I think Gemini and all the others will have that as well.

We already talked about their partnerships with Shopify, which is a big one. But also they say they'll soon be partnering with retailers, including Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Walmart, and Wayfair. Muse will be able to connect with these retail apps as well with Expedia and soon Instacart. Other connectors include GitHub, Granola, and Notion.

So that was part of it and then they went full Tamagotchi. So for those who remember the toy from back in the 90s, probably, I definitely remember them. The little keychain, excuse me, the little keychain Tamagotchi, which was like your little digital pet, and people would have to feed it and things like that and whatever. Well, Mark showed or Zuckerberg showed on the stage this, and I could bring it up, it basically looks like a Tamagotchi on a keychain. And so that was their take on or his take on. Look, this isn't even in production yet. We're hoping it will be out by the holidays. We still have to figure out parts and shipping and all the things. But basically, it has a little fingerprint scanner on the side. It has a video screen on the front so you can interact. And they're saying outside of the glasses, this would be the fastest way for somebody to interact with their views and whatever avatar. Also, apparently, once they build out another part of the model, it will also work like on FaceTime. So you'll literally be able to FaceTime your Muse, your avatar, and have full conversations with it, and it'll be cute, and it'll react, and da-da-da-da-da. So lots coming out of this first Connect and really shows you where Meta is pushing, and they think they have obviously something here with Muse. Obviously, they've got to be involved in buying the downloads and knowing that people are actually liking it. I've said several times now, I've used it on my phone, and I generally like it. I'm not using it all day, but I do think they nailed the user experience. It definitely feels like working with a WhatsApp, but a WhatsApp that's an agent, and so you can have offshoot conversations, you can have regular conversations.
