Max's Jordanador Review, The Greatest Food Event Coming Soon, Matū Brentwood's New Meat

Mad Food

October 10, 2026

After much talk, it was time for Judgement Day as Max critiques Jordan's cheesy shrimp taco collab with Santa Monica Seafood. The fellas talk all the sesame seed sprinkling, big name chef interactions, a horrendous mistake, and the continued haunting Jordudo history.

All right, Mad Food, I'm Jordan, Max is here. And Max's usual position on food festivals or industry events and the such are that he is against them, that he hates them. But it turns out he quite enjoys them just as though as he is invited. And he was invited to LA Chef Con after a long day of real estate showings and purchasing of more Paul Smith socks and walking Hector.

And so Max made his way to LA Chef Con, to the cocktail party, to feel accepted, to feel respected, and of course, and most importantly, to taste good old Jordos, cheesy sesame shrimp taco. Is that all accurate, Mac? Can I just call you Mac?

Max Shapiro (0:57)

Yeah, I think you were mid burp on that one. No burps. Okay.

Jordan Okun (1:01)

No, the St. James is pushing everything down properly.

Max Shapiro (1:04)

Oh, it is? Yeah. Okay. You're incorrect. I did not buy any more Paul Smith socks. I think 10 pair, that's enough.

Jordan Okun (1:14)

Okay.

Max Shapiro (1:15)

Everything else, pretty accurate. And I've been invited to food things that I've said no to.

But I have to honor you and I have to show you respect. Thank you so much. Yes.

Jordan Okun (1:27)

And there were so many industry people there, I felt like it was a comfortable environment for you.

Max Shapiro (1:35)

It was comfortable and uncomfortable because there were plenty of people there that I quite enjoy and respect. And then there were people there that I do not enjoy and I do not respect.

Jordan Okun (1:48)

Right. That is our plight in life.

Max Shapiro (1:52)

It is.

Jordan Okun (1:52)

At these type of events. There are people we are so happy to see and we are so happy to see us.

And then there are people you literally just have to walk right by and pretend like you both didn't see each other.

Max Shapiro (2:05)

One thousand percent.

Jordan Okun (2:06)

Right. So off to LA Chef Con, Max went.

Not Mac, Max.

Max Shapiro (2:12)

That's right.

Jordan Okun (2:13)

And he soon found me in all my sesame shrimp glory. Right?

Max Shapiro (2:19)

Sure did.

Jordan Okun (2:20)

Max met Alfredo. Wow.

Max Shapiro (2:23)

By the way, Alfredo, very magnanimous.

Jordan Okun (2:27)

Of Santa Monica Seafood.

Who? Yes. Gifted Max with a lot of fish.

Max Shapiro (2:35)

Isn't that right? Listen, Alfredo, thank you so much. He gifted me with lubina. I took it home. What is that lubina? Lubina is like a Spanish sea bass.

It's basically the same thing as a bronzino, but I'd prefer to call it lubina. Anyway, I'm so thankful he gifted this fish to me, but I took it home and it was not scaled or gutted.

Jordan Okun (2:59)

Get to work, pal.

Max Shapiro (3:00)

At 8:30 p.m. I'm scaling fish. How many food podcasters, sub stackers, Influencers, taste makers. Influencers know how to fucking scale a fish, gut it, portion it, chamber vacuum seal it, toss it in the freezer for later.

Jordan Okun (3:18)

Yeah. Here's the list. Max, Molly Baz probably, right?

Max Shapiro (3:27)

Probably. Okay.

Jordan Okun (3:28)

Who else? That's it.

I bet them jeans could scale a fish and butcher a fish. Yeah.

Max Shapiro (3:37)

Them jeans knows his way around the kid kitchen.

Jordan Okun (3:39)

But that's it.

Max Shapiro (3:40)

Yeah. He's going to put a GoPro on his chest.

Jordan Okun (3:44)

That's right.

Max Shapiro (3:45)

Not on his head because that would just be.

Jordan Okun (3:47)

Well, it's too far away.

Max Shapiro (3:48)

20 feet from the ground.

Jordan Okun (3:49)

Most people could put those GoPros on their head.

Max Shapiro (3:51)

Yeah. Not him.

Six, nine, too tall.

Jordan Okun (3:54)

Too tall. Too far away. It's like satellite imagery of the earth.

Max Shapiro (3:58)

Yeah, basically.

Jordan Okun (3:59)

No good. All right. So, Max met Alfredo, my buddy over at Santa Monica Seafood, and he told Max Alfredo and my origin story.

Max Shapiro (4:10)

Damn.

Jordan Okun (4:11)

Which I had forgotten about, of course. I had buried that because Alfredo and I met at a dinner and it was a Jordudo.

Max Shapiro (4:21)

He said you were a full Jordudo.

Jordan Okun (4:23)

And he was really turned off by Jordudo. Of course, everyone is. And but then he wasn't aware of the pod, but he was like, who was this dud? And for some reason, I was such a dud that he was like, I got to check out this guy's podcast. I don't even know how that happened.
