Now, let's move on to Four Thoughts on sport to get us rolling this morning. Thought one is on the coaching story of the year, and no, it isn't Essendon. Josh Fraser's Blues have just won their fifth game in a row. A berth in the first ever AFL wild card final is now a real possibility. We don't yet even know if Fraser will put his hand up for the full-time gig at the end of the year.
If they made it to the top 10 after winning just one game before he took the interim role, taking over from Michael Voss, the question would be, how can they give it to anyone other than him? Thought two is on Toby Green, who has ticked his AFL fines total past 50,000, with a heat of the moment whacked to the chest of Nick Newman on Saturday.
Now, we love Toby and you'd love to have him in your team. But with his record, is any clenched fist to anywhere from Toby not a suspension now?
Thought three, and speaking of clenched fists, Jack Ginevans, sorry, cops a $1,000 fine for what was daintily described as a jumper punch on Gold Coast Youngster Zeke Ulland. He has him pinned on the ground and he pulls back about a foot and then lands a clenched fist to Ulland's jaw while holding his jumper. It should have been a minimum one week ban for Jack. Finally, thought four, Ginevans Hawthorne teammate Josh Weddell got offered a three-match ban for the bump on Daniel Rioli that left Rioli with a broken jaw. Now, some will say three weeks is a lot, but if you elect a bump, you hit a bloke high and you break his jaw, there's a strong argument to mount that it's worth more than three matches. 487 736 736 is the text line.
