Let's move on to Four Thoughts on Sport to get us rolling this morning. And there are battle lines drawn between Victorian cricket and players after the Australian Cricketers Association rejected the proposal to merge Victoria's two BBL teams, privatising one and rebranding the other. The proposal can't happen without the approval of the players. And clearly, as it stands, the players disapprove. Second thought is on cricket on field. With 27 balls left in that match against Bangladesh, the Aussies needed nine runs with four wickets left. It's a walk in the park.

We got the win with one wicket to spare and three balls left. So confidence comes from results, and results are determined by manpower to a large degree. In this subcontinental series against Pakistan and Bangladesh, our results before last night were one win and four losses. Our manpower is low. Who would have thought in a match up against Bangladesh that Bangladesh would be the confident team? A win is a win. If only just by the Aussies. Third thought is on the New York Knicks, and New York fully in party mode. Of course, the Knicks breaking a 53-year-old drought by claiming the NBA title with a 94-90 win against San Antonio yesterday morning, Australian time. It was the fifth game of the best of seven series, and the Knicks won at 4-1. Well played to New York. You can't help thinking that the Spurs will ponder how close this came to being very different.
