Nationwide is so much more than a great insurance company. They're one of America's largest financial services companies. Just like I'm so much more than quarterback Peyton Manning. I'm also Peyton Manning. Insurance and financial services together, it's a masterpiece.
Peyton Manning does it again. For your insurance and financial needs, Nationwide is on your side.

Flowing ad budget on metrics that look great till the CFO sees them, that's bull spend. And marketers are calling it out in Dashboard Confessions.

I remember telling my boss, it'll be good for the brand when leads were slow. Yeah, it wasn't.

We've got a big show for you coming up today. We'll talk to Scotty Waters in a few minutes time. We'll talk to Fox Footies, Will Faulkner. We'll also talk to the West Australians, Craig O'Donoghue, later in the show. But first, let's get on to Four Thoughts on Sport to get us rolling this morning.
First thought is on the arc, not overruling the goal umpire on the Olly Dempsey aerial kick in the third term. First, let's not beat around the bush. It was a goal. There was enough video evidence to call it a goal. And if we're not going to use the arc to make calls that contradict the goal umpire when it is this obvious, I wonder what the point of having the arc is at all.
Second thought is on those who think that decision cost you along the game. Just a reminder, the margin here at the end was 14 points, not four points. Also, Freemantle led this game for all but five minutes. They won the inside 50, count 60 to 47 They won clearance 44 to 31, centre clearance 23 to 13, and they scored heavily from it. They won stoppage clearance 21, 18, and contested possession 141, 133 When you win contest, clearance and territory, and you win on the scoreboard as well, you are the rightful winner of the contest. Third thought, the most frightening thing about the weekend was the performance of Brisbane, who took 433 seconds at the start of their semi-final against Adelaide to put the Crows to the sword. Five goals in no time right off the top, and then another four in no time when the Crows had wriggled back into the game in the second quarter. I can guarantee you that would have gotten Hawthorne coaches Sam Mitchell's attention ahead of their MCG preliminary final this Saturday.
Final thought, the big trade news over the weekend was that Zach Butters has chosen the Western Bulldogs over Geelong, and we now await Port's strategy, whether they try and force the trade on restricted free agent Butters by matching the Bulldogs offer, or whether they take the free agency compensation. And clearly that's going to be about whatever's best for them.
They are losing their best player. You would like to think Port is in position to use the Butters' exit to make the acquisition of likely number one pick Dougie Cochran simpler, and also leave Port in position to get something else significant from the first round. Give us your thoughts and questions. 487 736 736 is the text line. 1312 55 is the Barra and O'Day open line. Barra and O'Day because the little things are everything. After the break, we'll be talking to Scotty Waters, Made in WA for WA. This is Mornings with Mark Duffield on SENWA.
