Let's get on to Four Thoughts on Sport to get us rolling this morning. Thought one, and my heart goes out to St Kilda's Max King, who has now gone in for surgery on his suspect hamstring. And that can be added to several other body parts the injury-prone Ford has that can be classified as suspect when it comes to their ability to stand up to the rigours of AFL footy. I've got my fingers crossed for Max. He's a great talent. He's had no luck in running whatsoever so far. Thought two is on young West Coast forward, Job Shanahan. Now we'll be talking to Eagles football manager, Gavin Bell, later on in the first hour. The question for Eagles fans, is it time to revisit the talk about Shanahan playing in defence, just for the final three games of this season? I know they see him as a forward long term, but I'm just not sure what harm the move back to the back line for three games would do. Their tall defenders are struggling. They regularly send Shanahan behind the ball for periods in quarters anyway. It would enable them to play both Cooper Duff Titler and Jack Williams at the other end.
Thought three, on Tasmania, significant coup with the signing of Nigel Lappan to their coaching staff to join Ken Hinckley. This is really sound practice by the Devils. Lappan has been part of successful cultures at both Brisbane and Geelong. He's highly rated as a development coach, and development coaches who can work with young players are going to be the most important members of the Devils coaching staff in their formative years. And finally, thought four, and we're going to discuss this with Dr. Sean Gorman in Duff and the Doctor in our second hour today.
Tyson Stengel leaves Geelong, Bobby Hill leaves Collingwood. There is uncertainty over whether Jamari Uyghur-Hagan remains at Gold Coast. These are troubling times for the AFL's Indigenous cohort. Are the league getting it right or are they getting it wrong? And if they are getting it wrong, where are they going wrong? We're going to be chatting to Sean in our second hour today.

13 12 55 is the Bower and Doday open line. Bower and Doday because the little things are everything. After the break, we'll be talking to Channel 10 Steve Allen about Calcio Italiano in Perth. And of course, we've got the Milan Derby, Inter vs AC Milan coming up at Optus Stadium tonight. Made in WA for WA, this is Mornings with Mark Duffield on SENWA.
