It is hot out here in the Southland, and I do this every year, and then I have this thing where we somehow have these mild Augusts, and then I get to the end, and I announce, well, this summer, it never kicked in. And then no sooner do I say that, then my shoes melt when they touch the black top as I walk out to the car.

Yeah.
There's always a few things I think about. I was talking to a therapist today. I've not seen a therapist, and oh my god. Since Dancing with the Stars.
I just was basically explaining that I like to stand at my house in my kitchen where I can see the valley and point at where my wife lived and grew up, and point at where I lived and grew up, and said, let's not end up like those idiots. That's what dumb people do. That's a garden variety dick. That's what dumb people do. They sit in a piece of shit house in the San Fernando Valley with a swamp cooler that does nothing on the roof but makes a buzzing sound, and they swelter. On days like today, the heat, as I say, it always depresses me because I used to have this trifecta of working outdoors, which sucked. But working outdoors, when it's hot, sucks like working as a lifeguard at a water park. It's hot. It sucks. But there's an added element to doing the construction because the construction is dusty and it's dirty.
Half the time when you're swinging the pickaxe or you're working the jackhammer, you have to put a mask on because it's so dirty and it's so dusty. So you're working outdoors, strike one. Strike two, there's dust everywhere and it's literally like cupping your hands and putting in front of your mouth except for on a hot day.

It's like things that inhibit the way that you survive in the heat.
