Remember when social media was truly social?

Well, welcome as usual to Fifty Plus, the age group in our country that has most of the money and increasingly, it seems, also the lion's share of common sense. I don't know why or how, but I seem to have fallen back into this, what used to be a custom for years. I would come in and I would do a little bit about the weather and a little bit about the stock market. And I think I'm gonna go ahead and stick with that. I had a couple of people ask me why I stopped it. I don't really know why I did that, but I know how to fix it. And that's to go ahead and do this. The weather forecast this week calls for potential record breaking high temperatures today through Friday, but those highs are only gonna be around 91 degrees, so it's not the end of the world. It's not 100 anymore. And by Sunday, we're looking at a string of highs in the low 80s, 81 specifically, for several straight days. That's the good news. Our AC units are finally gonna get a break.

The sort of good news, sort of bad news, is that on all of these days I'm talking about, right through Sunday, we're looking at pretty good chances of rain every day.

That sounds bad, I know. Even though we could use a little more rain, a lot of us could use a lot more rain.

But the system causing all this is more likely to produce scattered light rainfall than any sort of prolonged deluge. Occasional heavier rain might fall if you find yourself under one of the pop-up thunderstorms this system's gonna produce. But my gut tells me we're gonna be okay overall. The weather channel's 24-hour radar actually shows a lot of heavier rain coming for north central Texas. But our area, based on what I've looked at at three different forecasts now, our area looks reasonably clean at least through tomorrow. Pop-up showers, possibly, some thunderstorms, possibly.

But not just constant downpours. That's not, I don't think that's what we're gonna get out of this, based on the way the pattern is changing and the way it's moving. But what do I know, right? Oh, and in case anyone cares at all, and I'm rapidly losing my concern, former tropical storm Fay is officially done and gone out in the Atlantic.

That being said, though, Tropical Hormstana, there's one of those guaranteed human error things. Tropical Storm Hannah is still out there in the mid Atlantic, looking for Fay, I guess. I don't know what she's doing. She is trending eastward, though, according to the National Hurricane Center, and appears to be just about ready to go the way of Fay and run out of gas. And just so you know, in case anybody brings it up, there's a major hurricane off the west coast of Mexico, down around Guadalajara, but it's forecast to move farther and farther west out over the Pacific Ocean over the next week or so.

So in other words, yeah, it's out there. And its name is Rachel.

But Rachel is expected to keep moving west farther and farther. Maybe it'll go out toward Hawaii, I don't know.

But it's not coming our way, and it's not big enough to throw any rain over the mountains. In market news, all four of the big indicators were green around 930 this morning, with the Nasdaq actually up more than a full percentage point. The other three were just basically flat, really. Gold gained about 30 bucks an ounce overnight. It was sitting on 42.1 last I looked. And oil, after slipping below $90 overnight, was back up closer to around $91 the same time I was checking on gold. And now for the latest in what I just yesterday called the most news cycle dominating story, perhaps in 20 years or more.

And that would be the Lindsay Clancy case, where during her trial that resulted in a hung jury, Clancy admitted to killing her three young children, but blamed her actions on postpartum psychosis, which I, if I remember correctly, she said that that doesn't bother her anymore. I wonder if it bothers her that she killed her three kids. Her defense in that first trial was postpartum psychosis, like I said, and it's basically reasons of insanity, temporary, I suppose, in this case. And 11 jurors agreed, although one did not, and that's what triggered the mistrial. And we're getting more and more information now about what happened in that jury room, who was saying what and how it all came down. And something I heard just yesterday that really concerned me about why those people were in that jury room and what they thought they were supposed to be doing, there was allegedly conversation about how the evidence might show this, but there's a broader picture to be considered here. The rights of women, the mental health of women, that's what we're voting on.
