Welcome to The Niche Is You. My name is Matt Gottesman, at Matt Gottesman on Instagram, and this is my daily podcast where I create short, quick hitting episodes to help you uncomplicate life, creativity, and the pursuit of your highest self. There's only main character energy here. Now let's get into it.
Welcome to episode 880 This is a relaunch of an episode titled Make It Before You Understand It. The breakthrough is on the other side of execution. I thought that this would be a great one for everybody, just to remind them, like, hey, listen, you do not need to know everything before you begin. You just don't, and you really can't. And so I'm not going to jump into it. The episode will do that, but I thought this was a really great episode. If you're right now needing any kind of confirmation, like, hey, I need to just go for it, let it be this.
Welcome to episode 558 Make it before you understand it. Breakthrough is on the other side of execution. I thought this would be great for a follow-up episode to the last one, just kind of about, you know, leading from innovation, leading from creativity. But make it before you understand it. The breakthrough is on the other side of execution. We don't always understand what is coming through us until we apply it. That's just the way it is. What do you mean I'm supposed to build this? I don't even understand it. This isn't even my background. I'm not even sure. Do it. That is a form of faith. That is a form of walking by faith, not by sight. Make it before you understand it. I'm not saying the whole thing. I'm just saying, don't wait for all of the details in the blueprint before going. Create the blueprint at the same time.
I want to talk about why clarity is a result of creation, not a prerequisite, because we often wait for like, oh, when I know everything, then I'll move. How would you possibly know everything? And you need iteration. What I mean by that is like, imagine you're working on the engine of a car. And typically, it works really well when you do this set of circumstances and you do it. But then you're like, along the way, you kind of find out, you know, I could actually add a couple extra tweaks to this. I can iterate it a little bit. It'll make it even better and faster. It's that, that iteration, right? That comes from a result of creation.
I also want to talk about how action activates creative intelligence, right? Your inner knowing is tapping in. Where did you figure that out? Where did it come from? Well, I just started to move and it started to happen. And I get it, as I always say, the external world is like, they have to know, how did you know? How did you know? Like, well, I moved and made it happen. That's how I figured it out.
Once you move, you'll realize everyone that doesn't. And everyone that doesn't may be somewhat of a test for you along the way. That's why I say when you ground yourself so much in the work, making it before you fully understand it will keep you focused and directional more than the people who will challenge you about it.
Third, I want to talk about is the role of experimentation in originality. You can't be original unless you move energy outwardly and experiment with what you are here to create.
Otherwise, if you're looking at what everybody else is doing, you tend to copy. I also want to talk about what happens when you surrender to the process and stop trying to control the product. When you surrender to the process and stop trying to control the product.
I get it. We're all waiting to understand the whole thing. But to see the big picture, to feel ready, that's not really the case. Most ideas only reveal themselves once you're in motion. Now, again, there's the ideas themselves that are kind of coming through. But I don't know. A lot of times, I don't really know the fullness of it. I can say, oh, it's gonna be this, this, and this is what I'm building. People are like, okay, that's great. Like, yeah. They're like, well, what does that look like in five years? I'm like, I'll tell you in five years. And, you know, and I get it. The world wants to know, like, definitive. I can't give it to you. One, because I'm not God. And two, I want to be flexible to all the variables I don't even know yet. And three, all I can really tell you is, I'm called to these things, but they're going to mold and shape from two things. One, how I create intuitively, and two, how the world change externally. Think about that. There's modern tools that we didn't even have previously, so I'm trying to be very iterative in the process of, like, what's going to be revealed to me?
