And Will, we are watching college football today. We got three games going on right now.
End of the third quarter in the MAC. It is Eastern Michigan, 21-10 over Sacramento State. Their first ever conference game. Eastern Michigan, live betting line, minus 16 and a half, 43 and a half year total. We are starting the third quarter in Palo Alto with Stanford up 14-7 on Hawaii. Minus 8 and a half is Stanford right now in the live betting line, 43 and a half year total. And in Tallahassee, New Mexico State still hanging tough like the new kids told us. It is now five minutes into the third quarter. Florida State still up 17-7 on New Mexico State. 15 and a half Florida State favorite on the live betting line, 43 and a half year live betting total. Will, if you had not gotten on any of these gates beforehand, would you be getting on them now?
**Will Hill** (1:32)
I would say Florida State probably has heard it from Norvela in the locker room there at half time.
And you'll read the old riot act of, hey, we're Florida State, this is New Mexico State. We're only up 10 You guys are playing like crap. All that. You know, we're watching all these games, but watching that one, it doesn't feel like Florida State is just moving the ball at ease. It feels like they're having a tough time blocking in New Mexico State. Again, it's a different level of competition. So you figure Florida State, they're athletes. You see this sometimes in college basketball, especially the NCAA tournament, where that 14, 15 seed, they can hang around the first 15, maybe 20 minutes. Eventually, you know, the five minutes into the half, the top, you know, the one, two, three seeds, they pull away for the most part. Maybe that happens here. I would expect it to happen here. So I probably look towards Florida State, but a little concerned just with how much tough, you know, how much difficulty Florida State had blocking and just holding up at the point of attack, something you expect the blue blood to have a lot of ease with when you consider the level of competition here.
**Brad Taylor** (2:32)
Yeah, nothing like a good old NCAA tournament, first to 10, taking an underdog in the first round, first to 10
Those are the good old days. They put too much juice on it now for the, against the dogs. I missed the good old days. So yeah, we're underway now. New Mexico State, they still had the ball, they're driving now, they're close to midfield in Florida State territory now, as they're still looking to hang tight with this one. Live line is still 16 and a half though, 42 and a half year total. It looks like Hawaii is going to go three and out here, the first possession in the second half for them. They're still down 14-7 here. So we'll keep an eye on those games. Still looking for that Sacramento State backdoor cover. That's what I'm looking for. And of course, Red Sox and Yankees through five now, Max Freed long gone. It is Yankees three, Red Sox one. Do we feel good about the Yankees now? If Lumbar Jr. is hurt, he came out of this game. He was hitting 253, Will. I don't know why all you Yankee fans are against him.
Are we okay with him at shortstop going to the playoffs?
**Will Hill** (3:36)
Yeah, I mean, he was the toast of the town just about a week, 10 days ago. First off, people were down on Volpe. He's the young kid. He's a hot prospect and when you're a fan of a baseball team, gets excited about the best prospect when he finally comes up. He has not fielded well recently. He doesn't have a lot of pop, so we'll see here what the injury status is. By the way, we have a little bit of a developing situation. It looked like Stanford blocked a punt here.
Hawaii was punting, the punt was blocked, and it goes out the back of the end zone, so that is going to be, what was it, 14-7? So it looks like 16-7 will now be the score with Stanford not only getting two points, but they will get the ball as they block a punt, and it just goes right back to the end zone. And Hawaii is lucky it went in the back of the end zone because there was nothing but red jerseys there for Stanford to recover that. It would have been a touchdown, but Stanford 16, Hawaii 7, as you get that kind of odd score. So with the closing number around four and a half or five, that does leave the back door open. But Stanford will take over here up nine, 13, 32, just a couple minutes into the half here.
