What is up, everybody? Welcome to another episode of Limited Resources, this episode number 874 My name is Marshall. I'm one of your Limited Resources, and joining me on the line all the way from Denver, Colorado, it's Luis Scott-Vargas. Luis, have you been diving into Reality Fracture?
Luis Scott-Vargas (0:32)
You don't even know how good this time is for Magic for me, because not only is Reality Fracture awesome, it's everything I want in the format. I'm having a great time with it.
I'm also doing a ton of cubing, and my team just made top four of the Cube League. So from an 0-1 start to 5-1 in the Swiss, won our first round, beating our last opponents, actually. We beat them in the Swiss as well. And magic is just popping right now. I'm having a great time.
Marshall Sutcliffe (1:00)
Yeah, you've got so much going on on the YouTube channel, Cube stuff, and of course, Reality Fracture.
Luis Scott-Vargas (1:05)
I just put up a five-hour long rotisserie draft. It was great.
The whole concept was, I was drafting against the rest of the server. So I had four seats, they had four seats, you know, let's go. And it was awesome. It was LSV versus the world. It was a really fun one. So yeah, and then I'm playing a ton of Reality Fracture too. Like it's not, it's certainly just a buffet at this point.
Marshall Sutcliffe (1:28)
It really is. I'll put a link to that one in the show notes as well. And you can also find Luis's early Reality Fracture stuff on his YouTube channel. We're going to be talking Reality Fracture today. We're going to get into our format overview. We're also going to take a look at both draft and sealed because sealed has become quite important, especially if you play a lot on Arena.
And I've been playing in the Winner Box events and I know Luis you have as well. So we're going to be talking about all Reality Fracture today. Before we do want to say thank you to everybody who supports us on Patreon. It is patreon.com/limitedresources if you'd like to support us here. We also want to say thank you to Ultimate Guard for their support of the show. They have the best stuff in the business. You know, when you play magic, you need to protect your cards. They're valuable. You need them to last a long time. You need to be able to resell or trade them at some point, or keep them in your permanent collection. And that means you need sleeves, you need playmats, you need deck boxes, you know, you need long boxes, binders, things like that to organize and protect your cards. And that is exactly what Ultimate Guard specializes in. They have this really great thing where they marry really nice, really well thought out design with premium materials. And that really does make for a great product. You can check out their full line of products over at ultimateguard.com. You can pick it up at your favorite online retailer or local game store. Thank you Ultimate Guard. We do appreciate it. One of the perks that you get from being a Patreon supporter of Limited Resources is you get to ask questions in our Patreon question of the week thread. And this one, I thought we had answered, but I couldn't find it. So we're going to go at it again in case we haven't. This one's from Matthew who says, Hi, Marshall and Luis, my son is 12 years old and we have become big fans of the podcast since he got into Magic about a year ago. And Matt says, I used to play Magic back in the 90s and just returned to the game after almost 30 years, having left around the time of Visions and returned to a very different game. It must be like you woke up on another planet.
If your last experience was Ice Age and now you are, sorry, Visions, and now you're playing modern era Magic, what advice would you give to a soon to be teenager who wants to get really good at Limited? My son has already come a long way in the short time since he took up Magic in early 2025 He beat more than 30 adults at our local game store to take first place at the Edge of Eternity's pre-release, and he finished second at the Lorwin pre-release. We enjoy many formats, and of course, many people his age mostly want to play Commander, but our great love is limited, and he wants to be a top player. Besides the obvious step of just playing lots of games, what should he be doing? You know, Luis, this sounds like somebody who maybe would have pro tour aspirations or the talent level to start putting that together. You know, if you're 12 years old and you're finishing first and second at the last few pre-releases at your local store, like there's something there.
