By the way, with a random three o'clock start to the NBA season, with no fanfare at all, you know why?
Cause all the fanfare is at Madison Square Garden tonight as the New York Knicks defend their first championship in 53 years, or as we like to say in Yiddish, 53 años. That's what we like to say, that's how we say it. In Yiddish? That's Yiddish right there, that's right. And joining us to celebrate the New York Knicks championship is my guy, Lil D.
Danny James (0:32)
We right in it, we right in it.
Craig Carton (0:34)
What's up, Lil D? Back in the studio again.
Danny James (0:37)
We had to do it, we had to do it.
Craig Carton (0:39)
By the way, I don't want to make something up that's not true, but did you sign with a record label?
Danny James (0:46)
I'm not officially signed yet.
Craig Carton (0:47)
But you're close.
Danny James (0:48)
A lot of people have been reaching out, man.
Craig Carton (0:51)
Word on the street is that you're close to a deal.
Danny James (0:53)
It's coming soon, it's coming soon, it's coming soon. Well, I'll tell you something. I don't know if it would be possible for anything to be happening if my man right here didn't hook me up so long. I got to give the glory to you, bro. You know what I mean? Give the glory to God. I'm just a friend that connected you to good people. Right below God.
Craig Carton (1:10)
No, no.
Danny James (1:12)
God goes first. God and Jesus. All good.
Craig Carton (1:15)
Moses, if that's your thing, too.
All I did was do a favor for a friend, because I get joy of seeing successful people make progress. I told Chris the day we started the show that I'm glad he gets this opportunity. Are you going to give me a record contract? No. You don't like to sing.
Danny James (1:31)
I do like to sing.
Craig Carton (1:32)
So I introduced D to Lil Wayne, obviously, and some other music people. And knock on wood, it gets to that next level, because I think you're deserving of it.
Danny James (1:39)
I appreciate that.
Craig Carton (1:40)
If I thought you were bunk, I wouldn't have done it.
Danny James (1:42)
Yeah. No, I know you keep it real, bro.
Craig Carton (1:44)
So I appreciate you. I tell you this though, you don't know how close it came to getting dropped outside Gotham that night, though.
Danny James (1:52)
Oh, really?
Craig Carton (1:52)
Oh, yeah.
Security. Yeah. Yeah. You get within five steps sometimes. You get knocked out.
Danny James (1:59)
I was saying that when I saw him outside, I just yelled, I was like, yo, Wayne, I'm the one that wraps you on the Carton Show. He was going in and he turned around and he parted. We talk about Moses, right? My man parted the Red Sea of bodyguards. I'm not messing around. He came over and he showed love, so that was cool. Yeah, that must have been awesome. Oh my god, it was one of the coolest moments ever, bro. Wayne is an idol of mine. It's great.
Craig Carton (2:24)
So, you're rocking the Knick gear today.
Danny James (2:26)
Yes.
Craig Carton (2:27)
I'm like, are you going to the game tonight? You gonna be at the Garden?
Danny James (2:29)
I got booked for a watch party tonight, but I will definitely be in and out of the Garden all throughout the season. I was with Alan Houston the other day.
That's my guy. He's your guy. He's looked out for you. He's like an uncle to me at this point. That's my man. I was talking to Stephon Marbury the other day, and these are all like my people. Some of them I've known before the Knicks stuff happened, but just the Knicks thing with me increased our relationship so much. Well, it increased your profile.
Craig Carton (2:54)
More people that never heard of you got to see you. And look, you're hustling.
Like Nems, you were here producing, right? When Nems came in, who owns Coney Island.
Danny James (3:04)
Yeah, that's the mayor right there.
Craig Carton (3:06)
Yeah, just ask him.
Danny James (3:07)
That's the mayor. He's my guy.
Craig Carton (3:09)
No, he's great. Love Nems. He did Bing Bong. You remember back in the day when we were trying to do the Bing Bong thing.
So you sent it to me. I listened to it.
Danny James (3:19)
Okay.
Craig Carton (3:19)
And it's awesome.
Danny James (3:20)
Thank you, bro.
