From Carolla One Studios in Glendale, California, this is the Adam Carolla Show. Adam's guest today, Liam Neeson.

And stunt man director, Mark Vanselow. Plus the news will be Mike Dawson. And now, Adam Carolla.

Adam Carolla (1:18)

All right, Liam Neeson has joined us. Also Mark Vanselow. Mark was Liam's stunt double, maybe still is for quite some time. Now directing the movie is called The Mongoose. It'll be in theaters October 30th. High action, great cast, by the way. And Ving Rhames, Marissa Tomei, Michael Chiklis, good dude.

Good to see both of you.

Mark Vanselow (1:44)

Great to be here.

Liam Neeson (1:45)

Yeah, you too, Adam. Thank you.

Adam Carolla (1:48)

So Liam's gonna hang out for a bit and then we'll say bye to Liam and then Mark's gonna hang out. So I'll direct most of the stuff toward Liam while we have him and then Mark and I got a lot to talk about too, especially stunt work. I was watching the trailer.

I saw some real great drifting and driving and real high-end stunt driving and it made me think, my friend Tanner Faust is a guy, is a stunt driver. I wonder if he was anywhere around this film.

Mark Vanselow (2:20)

No, we did everything in Melbourne, Australia. So Tanner wasn't there, but a guy named Eugene, who was a drift driver down there, it was just amazing.

Adam Carolla (2:30)

Yeah, because you needed a drift driver to do those stunt scenes. Liam, you like driving, you like cars, was there any that you did yourself?

Liam Neeson (2:41)

Adam, I hate it.

I hate driving. It was never a thing for me growing up. My father hated driving because he had to drive a little van to earn a few bucks.

He hated it, I hated it, I still hate it. And I don't mind admitting, and Mark converts for this, a dear friend of mine who grew up with cars, in cars, still works with cars in Dublin. When I was telling him the story of Mongoose, I said at the end of my little blurb, I said, what, the star of the movie, Peter, that's my friend's name, is this car. And he said, what is it? And I said, it's a red one. And during the movie, it changes color. It says, what's the name of the effing car? So I had to get in touch with Mark, we'd already shot the movie, to say, Mark, please, tell me the name of this car. It's the full name of it. So Mark got back, and he shall tell you now the name of the car, because I still can't.

Adam Carolla (4:02)

Ford Mustang, Shelby GT500 or something?

Mark Vanselow (4:05)

Yeah, Super Snake.

Adam Carolla (4:06)

Super Snake. I saw the trailer, I saw 10 cents of the trailer, and I knew what the car was.

Liam Neeson (4:14)

You know, some of the... Sorry, Adam, when we were doing it, wrapping the car and stuff, seeing these stunt drivers around the car, I hope you don't mind me saying, it looked as if they were getting erections. They were so excited.

Adam Carolla (4:33)

Well, it's an interesting subject because I love cars, and I know so many people. I remember when I was talking to Jimmy Kimmel at some point, when he started to really become successful, and he was driving the same old used car that he'd driven for years, six cylinder, nothing special.

And I said to him, Jimmy, why don't you get something cool now? You're rich, you're on TV every night. Liam froze up, but he'll be back. And he looked at me like kind of confused. He goes, this car's fine. I go, I know it's fine, but now you're rich guy. Don't you want to get a Corvette or Land Rover or something? And he just looked at me and he went, I don't get it. This car works fine. And I thought, oh yeah, that's not a car guy. Car guys are not into pragmatic cars. You don't need 700 horsepower in LA. You're sitting in traffic all day. You want 700 horsepower. Liam popped off, but he'll pop back on.
