**Lexi Gold** (0:21)
Hey, what's good? What's up?
**Shirley Ju** (0:25)
Sis, you look so good.
**Lexi Gold** (0:26)
Thank you. You got me crushing. Period. They all do.
**Shirley Ju** (0:31)
We have a trivia question. What does a majorette team usually perform alongside?
**Lexi Gold** (0:36)
A marching band. A. B.
**Shirley Ju** (0:38)
Where's my belt?
**Lexi Gold** (0:40)
I used to be a majorette, so I know.
**Shirley Ju** (0:41)
Let's talk about that. I had to look that up, Sis.
**Lexi Gold** (0:44)
Okay. So I used to be a captain and a co-captain. I played both roles. But definitely, I was a majorette in Memphis. Like that's what I wanted to be. That was my dream. I literally was like, if I went to college, I would have been a majorette. A Jackson State majorette. That's all I wanted to do. I did not see myself doing music right now. None of that until I get done with majorette.
Majorette was all I seen. That's it. That was my dream. That was my goal. That was my passion.
I love majorette. I still do. I still watch videos. When did you start? Everybody marching, man. I started in seventh grade.
Sixth grade, I was a cheerleader. And when I think- Can you do the splits? I can, but I ain't gonna do it right now. Why not since? Baby, I'm classy. Never trust you.
I'm looking too fly to be on the floor.
**Shirley Ju** (1:27)
That's true.
**Lexi Gold** (1:28)
Too fly to be on the floor right now.
**Shirley Ju** (1:31)
Wait, so seventh grade up until when?
**Lexi Gold** (1:32)
Okay, seventh grade is the twelfth grade.
**Shirley Ju** (1:34)
Okay.
**Lexi Gold** (1:34)
So when I was in sixth grade, it's a funny story. We was practicing cheerleading squad. We was practicing for a game. It was a big game on Friday.
Man, we heard a lot of noise coming in.
All that bass. And then we see all these girls coming in. They hitting kicks, splits. Like just about 30 girls walking in and just showing out on our ass. Like we looking crazy. Like we like, damn, we just finna cheer and shit. They finna go dance. I wanna pop and dance too. You know what I'm saying? So when I seen that, I said, damn, next year, I'm gonna audition for them. Cause I don't know. I was like, I'm just curious to know if I can make it. And when I made it, oh, it was, that's it. It was up. That's all she wrote. That's all she wrote. I was a major every year. Everybody knew me. If you know Lexi Gold, back in school, if you know Alexis, you know major, she killing it.
**Shirley Ju** (2:27)
So you were-
**Lexi Gold** (2:27)
Marching band, every game, every performance, like every competition, I'm right there in the front. If I'm not in the front, I'm in the back.
**Shirley Ju** (2:34)
You ever mess up?
**Lexi Gold** (2:35)
We performed in New Orleans. Yeah. I'm human. We messed up, but it's about you keep going. If you kept going.
**Shirley Ju** (2:40)
That's a lot of eyes on you.
**Lexi Gold** (2:42)
Exactly. Like if you mess up, it's rare where I mess up cause I was such a perfectionist. I'm a Virgo, so I'm big on that. So if I did mess up, I cleaned it up so cool. I cleaned it up real quick. I'm not gonna lie. If I was still in the dance world, I would have probably been a choreographer right now.
**Shirley Ju** (2:59)
No way.
**Lexi Gold** (2:59)
Just because I love major that bad. Or I would invest, when I make it, I would invest in a major squad.
**Shirley Ju** (3:07)
Wait, I love that and they will be on stage with you every time you perform.
**Lexi Gold** (3:10)
I would invest in them. I would invest in a major squad for Shisha.
**Shirley Ju** (3:14)
Okay, so what was the training like, sis?
**Lexi Gold** (3:16)
Hard work. I'm not going to lie. Back then, I'm a little thick now. I'm a little stout. Okay, first. I'm a little stout right now. But growing up, I was very conditioned.
