Leon Rose is planning to make a move. The Knicks are looking to add more players to the team. Pre-Agency was one option New York already used to add players to the roster, but the other option is making a trade. And according to ESPN, it wouldn't be surprising if Leon Rose pulled off another move. Take a look at these following updates. Shout out to ESPN and Vincent Goodwill for giving us this following update. In ESPN's off-season analysis, Goodwill predicted it would not be surprising if Knicks president Leon Rose makes another trade. As New York continues searching for additional size, following the departures of Mitchell Robinson and Ariel Huckporty.
The Knicks are still scouring the market, looking for another backup big. It wouldn't be a surprise to see them pull off a trade, especially considering they lost Ariel Huckporty.
And who do you suppose the Knicks will look to trade for? It's the same name we've been saying over the last few days. Moussa Diabate.
Take a look at these updates from NBA insiders, Mark Stein and Jake Fisher. The Knicks have already explored several options. According to Fisher and Stein, they previously reported that New York expressed interest in veteran center Kevon Looney before he ultimately signed with the Lakers. That same report identified Charlotte Hornet Center, Moussa Diabate as another player. The Knicks continue to monitor veteran center Jonas Valanciunas also remains an intriguing possibility.
And speaking about Jonas Valanciunas, according to Shams, Denver recently waived him. Now he's a free agent. He can sign with any team he wants to. According to Shams, the Denver Nuggets are waiving veteran center, Jonas Valanciunas. Valanciunas is expected to receive interest from multiple NBA teams.
Even Knicks insider Ian Bagley recently stated that at this very moment, Jonas Valanciunas is on the Knicks radar. According to him, New York was interested in Jonas Valanciunas in the 2024 offseason. Valanciunas said at the time, we had a lot of talks with different teams. New York was one of them. The Knicks will have solid depth at the center position if Valanciunas, a former client of Leon Rose, chooses the Knicks in his current free agency. He is among the centers on their radar.
The Knicks are clearly looking to add another center to this team. We already talked about the player New York could trade for in Moussa Diabate, and another player in free agency in Jonas Valanciunas that they could possibly add to the team. But are there any other options New York is exploring right now to add more center depth to the roster? We do have an update on that too, because there is another name we need to talk about.
According to Brett Siegel, an NBA insider with Clutch Points, he states the following, it's very thin on the center market in free agency. The one name that we keep hearing after the Knicks signed Andre Drummond is Nick Richards on a minimum contract. He's a CAA client. The Knicks have a lot of ties to CAA, and it would just make sense for them to bring in Nick Richards there. Moussa Diabate is still the only choice for me, especially if the Knicks can make that trade. But if they can't make a trade, and they need to use free agency, Jonas Valanciunas has my money. He's the player I would want New York to sign to this team, even over a player like Nick Richards. Now some of you are in the comments, and you're saying that Nick Richards, he's younger, he can probably move better than Valanciunas. Maybe that's true, but in terms of experience, what they both can bring to the team, Valanciunas does a lot more than Richards does, especially inside the paint. He can rebound, he can score inside, he has post moves, he's a better fit for this Knicks team right now, and what they're looking to add to the roster. Diabate is my choice, if Leon Rose can pull off a trade. If he can't, then go with Jonas Valanciunas. Now I know what you're thinking, that's probably all of the updates that I have to talk about regarding free agency and players they want to add to this team. But beyond centers, New York has recently been linked to another player, a guard, an all-star, that potentially they can add to the roster. Take a look at this update. According to reports...
