He's back. Jose Alvarado is staying home. He is staying with the New York Knicks. Leon Rose, he is cooking. The genius is at work again. He worked on a new deal with Jose Alvarado. Not only did Alvarado decline his $4.5 million player option, he's signing a new three-year deal with the New York Knicks worth up to around $14 million. $14 million and some change. We don't know the exact details yet, but what we do know is that this Knicks team slowly but surely is coming back all together for next season. First, it was Mohammed Diawara, and now it's Jose Alvarado. Let's go ahead and break down these latest reports so you can get updated with the new information that we have today. Shout out to Shams of ESPN and Ian Bagley for giving us this following information. You guys can see it on screen. It's right there for you guys. New York guard Jose Alvarado is declining his $4.5 million player option and intends to sign a new three-year, $14-plus million deal to return to the Knicks. New York made it a priority to retain the New York native who played a key role on a historic championship team. According to Ian Bagley, Jose Alvarado declined that player option for next season and he will be back on a multi-year deal with the Knicks. Alvarado was a key piece for the World Champions and the Knicks have been prioritizing his return this offseason. He is coming back to the Knicks and now New York has him once again for next season. Now, what does this mean, ladies and gentlemen?
It means Leon Rose, he's in the kitchen.
He's cooking. He is cooking. Talk about an amazing deal. Do you guys know the Lakers? They were interested in Jose Alvarado. The Spurs, they were interested in Jose Alvarado. If he went into free agency and he was not signed, there's a good chance he could have left New York with a much larger deal. So many teams were interested in adding Jose Alvarado. But what did New York do? The same thing they did with Mohamed Diawara. They knew if they let Diawara go into free agency, other teams would have thrown him so much money. The same thing is true for Jose Alvarado. New York did not allow that to happen. What did they do instead?
They signed this man to a 3 year deal worth up to around $14 million.
We do not have the exact value yet. But the fact of the matter is, it's going to be a cheaper deal than a lot of people would have anticipated for a player like Alvarado, who had an amazing game for New York, an amazing series for The Knicks. He had a great postseason for New York, and he was clutch in the NBA Finals.
That's why I knew he was coming back. I just didn't know what the deal was. But once again, Leon Rose in the front office...
Hold up.
Hold up!
Hang on! They cooking! Cooking! They cooking some good food. Oh, it's some good food. I can't wait to go to the barbecue, because they're cooking up a storm and everybody got a plate. Everybody got a plate. Leon, man, what a genius. What a genius this man is. He continues to give great contracts after great contracts, making the right moves, making the right plays and bringing back the players that we absolutely need. He's always making the right moves, not overpaying, but paying the right amount.
