Welcome back to the Daily Crypto Roundup. Ledger has asked a reseller to stop selling and shipping hardware wallets while it investigates reported losses. That is today's immediate question for holders. Where did your wallet come from? Bitcoin is recovering toward $83,000, Solana has activated faster slots, and Zcash developers have a January target with a surprising privacy catch. At the time of recording on October 9th, Bitcoin is around $82,900, up roughly 0.6% over 24 hours. Ethereum is near $2,488, and down approximately 1.4%.
XRP is close to $1.38 and lower by about 0.9%.
Solana is around $109.73, down approximately 2%, while BNB is near $739, and down about 2.1%.
Bitcoin's recovery is the meaningful contrast. Several major alternatives remain negative, despite the bounce from yesterday's lows. Tell us whether that rebound is enough to restore your confidence. This is not financial advice. Crypto trading involves risk of loss. New Kraken users who sign up using our link to the description can claim 20 XRP from Crypto News Today. Our lead is Ledger's investigation into wallets sold by CryptoBilis, a reseller serving customers in Southeast Asia, including Malaysia and the Philippines. Ledger says users who bought through that reseller have reported losing funds. It has asked CryptoBilis to pause all sales and shipments while the investigation continues. That precaution is verified. The widely circulated claim that losses exceed $86 million is not independently confirmed, and neither is the proposed explanation that devices were tampered with before delivery. We do not yet have a verified victim count, a demonstrated attack mechanism or evidence that Ledger's entire product range is compromised. This distinction matters because a hardware wallet is only one part of your security. The device, its delivery route and the way its recovery phrase is created all matter. A report about a particular reseller should prompt affected customers to check their position without turning an unresolved investigation into a claim that every holder must panic. Ledger's guidance is specific. Customers who purchased through CryptoBilis within the past 90 days should not initialize those devices. People who have already activated them should consider moving to a new Ledger device with a newly generated recovery phrase. Follow the company's verified support guidance and never disclose your recovery phrase to anyone offering help. A fresh phrase is the important detail. Restoring the same potentially exposed phrase onto different hardware would preserve the same underlying control over the funds. New packaging alone cannot repair an exposed key.
The sales pause may prevent further exposure while investigators establish what happened. It also disrupts legitimate customers and the resellers' business. The strongest counterargument to the supply chain theory is that losses could have another cause. That remains unresolved. Evidence from inspected devices, affected addresses and a technical incident report must decide it. If you bought a wallet through a reseller, could you identify the seller and purchase date immediately?
Watch for Ledger to specify affected batches, confirm or reject tampering, publish a verified loss assessment and explain whether replacement or reimbursement arrangements apply. There is no confirmed deadline for that report yet.

Bitcoin's rebound is the second story, and it needs the same separation between evidence and interpretation. Today's recovery follows Thursday's fall toward $80,400.
President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the United States would not strike Iran before the November 3rd midterm elections. That is the earlier statement behind today's relief. Not a new announcement made this morning.
Oil eased and United States' stock futures improved during European trading. Lower immediate conflict risk offers a plausible explanation for the better mood. It does not mean the conflict is resolved. The inflation problem has disappeared or the Federal Reserve has changed policy.
Alex Kupcicovich, Chief Market Analyst at FXPro, said Bitcoin reached its 50-day moving average near the low, where the balance shifted in favor of buyers. That describes a technical response, not proof that long-term investors have returned in force. Today's completed fund data add the opposing evidence. United States spot Bitcoin exchange traded funds lost about $244 million on Thursday.
Ether funds lost roughly $73 million, and Solana funds about $3 million.
XRP funds attracted approximately $8 million, all through Franklin Templeton's product. Those are Thursday's subscriptions and redemptions, reported today.
Friday's final figures are not available yet. Luke Deans, Senior Research Associate at Bitwise Europe, identifies roughly $83,000 as an important area, including the estimated average cost basis of Bitcoin fund investors. A sustained recovery above that region would strengthen the rebound. Losing yesterday's roughly $80,400 low would undermine it. Deans also identifies approximately $77,000 as the average cost basis of active investors, a potential reference point rather than a promised floor.
