Well, hi, and welcome to Practice Makes Parent, where we understand it's not about perfection, but about transformation. I'm Rebecca St. James.
Danny Huerta (0:09)
And I'm Dr. Danny Huerta. And do you ever find yourself only noticing your limitations? Or do you have kids saying, I just can't do that? Do you have that happening in your house? Well, today we're gonna be challenging those two things. And today's guest embodies what it means to be resilient and to follow in what God has for you in your life no matter what. And man, excited about this conversation today.
Rebecca St. James (0:34)
Well, this is a friend of mine. I love it when I get the welcome and friend of mine to the show.
But we connected probably a couple decades ago and then connected in LA too when I was living out there. And so he's Aussie and just has the most amazing heart. This is an extraordinary human that our audience is about to connect with. Nick Vujicic is just an amazing, amazing guy, loves Jesus with all his heart, is a father, is a wonderful husband. His wife is a legend. That's what we say in Australia, she's a legend. But he entered this world with a very big challenge. And that is that he was born without arms or legs, facing challenges, disappointments and questions that most of us can barely even imagine. And he's risen above. His story is a story of victory.
And through his faith and his perseverance and the steadfast love of his family, what could have been a story defined by limitations and really lifelong losses became exactly the opposite. A story of purpose, hope, marriage, fatherhood, and tremendous impact around the globe.
Danny Huerta (1:39)
Nick's story is a powerful reminder that our children's lives are not defined by the obstacles that they face. And many of our kids have some sort of obstacle in front of them. But really, it's defined by God who walks them through the struggles.
And you know, when we think about our Christian faith, many times we don't think about the struggles being the deepest part of our faith. And we think that if I believe in God, everything's going to just go exactly how I planned it going. I'm going to pray and he's going to answer my prayers. That's not how it works out. It's really about being able to step towards that faith in Christ, especially when things are not going the way we thought they were going to go. And sometimes the greatest gift a parent can offer is not a perfect plan, but a faithful presence, an unwavering belief, a listening heart, and trust in God's greater purpose. And I took my kids to an event at a local church here in Colorado Springs a few years ago, and Nick was the speaker.
And both my son and daughter were completely moved by his testimony, by his story. They still remember that event at that church. So glad we went to it. Nick is an author, a motivational speaker, and he's been called this Generation's Billy Graham. He's married with four children, and he has a new movie that just came out called No Limbs, No Limits, The Nick V Story. I love the movie. My wife and I had tears coming out. And we highly recommend your whole family watches this movie. It's truly our pleasure to welcome Nick to our show, Practice Makes Parent. Nick, welcome.

Thank you, Danny, Rebecca. Thanks for having me. I really appreciate it. And wonderful to reconnect with you, Rebecca.
I need to say that God has used you tremendously as a catalytic inspiration. When I was a 17 year old, feeling God stirring me to go to the nations and preach the gospel and just want to say, thank you and to your family for the incredible inspiration that you've been to the hundreds of millions of people around the world.
Rebecca St. James (3:49)
Oh, friend. It's such a blessing to hear that. Thank you for your encouragement and you're a gift to my life and to the world. And just so grateful that you'd give us this time. And we know our audience is just going to be so blessed by your story. So let's dive right in. You know, we on the show really seek to help parents as they journey through the adventure of raising children. And we want to be so practical. And I think one of the things that hit me about watching your absolutely fabulous movie and I want my kids, my husband to see it because I think every person should see it. It's high impact. But your mom and dad in the film were very honest about not knowing how to raise you. They had fears about your future.
