It's scary to take that leap.

Sara (0:03)

That's us in a nutshell too.

Koa Melancon (0:05)

Because we're just flying by the seat of our pants. We're flying with the Holy Spirit on this one.

We have grabbed onto the garments, and we're just kind of flying behind.

Welcome back to Coffee Talk With The Cajun Mamas. We have another special guest with us this week, and it's Ms. Laura Huval.

Koa Melancon (0:36)

I'm so excited about this.

Sara (0:37)

Me too, we've been wanting her on our podcast. Wait till y'all, y'all just gonna love her like we do. Okay, but first, let's start out by thanking our sponsor, Lamb Family Care. I keep saying Lamb Home Health, but it really is Lamb, but it's Lamb Family Care.

Koa Melancon (0:51)

It's Lamb Family Care. They do home health and hospice. So it's not just hospice. You know, sometimes you think of a company and you say, oh, they do hospice.

But it's not just hospice.

Sara (1:03)

But it's not just end of life care.

Koa Melancon (1:05)

But you know, when you do have a situation when it might be time to call hospice, it might be that your family member or someone you love is falling a lot, or things are just starting to change within the family. They're losing weight. They haven't repeated hospital stays, infections becoming increasingly dependent on others or you. It might be time to call in a company like LAM, which is L-A-M-M, family care. So that you can have a conversation with them and see, is it the right time for your family to get help with hospice. So if this sounds like something they're going to help. Ugh, I got a hair.

It might be time to call LAM, family care, and just kind of explore your options, see if y'all are there yet, and they're going to help you to navigate this. So you can give them a call at 1-800-745-2299, or you can visit LAMM.care.

The right care, the right time, and it starts with a conversation.

Sara (2:12)

That's right, and thank y'all for being our sponsor for October.

Koa Melancon (2:16)

Oh, thank God.

Sara (2:17)

You got it, friend. Oh, that hair was bothering me. It was tickling you.

Koa Melancon (2:20)

Bothering me.

Sara (2:20)

It was such a border.

Koa Melancon (2:23)

All right. Laura Huval. Miss Laura Huval. Ladies and gentlemen.

Laura Huval (2:27)

Oh my goodness. First of all, I love y'all. Thank y'all. Y'all inspire me just to be more authentically me. And I think that's why everybody loves y'all. So thank you.

Koa Melancon (2:39)

Well, thank you. Oh, thanks, Laura. You are authentically you, though. I don't think I've ever met somebody just so joyful naturally like Laura is. Infectious. And do you know why? It's because she has the joy of the Lord in her.

Sara (2:54)

Oh, yeah.

Laura Huval (2:55)

A to the middle.

Sara (2:56)

A thousand billion percent. And that megawatt smile. That's all Jesus.

Koa Melancon (3:01)

That's all Jesus.

OK, so listen, if you don't know who Laura Huval is, shame on you. No, I'm joking.

Sara (3:10)

You will now.

Koa Melancon (3:11)

And you, I'm telling you, you found your new favorite person to look up. So tell us a little bit about yourself, Laura.

Laura Huval (3:18)

OK, well, I'm from Cecilia, Louisiana. So I was born there. Well, Lafayette, you know.

Koa Melancon (3:23)

Oh, yeah.

Laura Huval (3:24)

Born in Cecilia is where I'm from. My family's from there.

Of course, much like Church Point, small town living.

Sara (3:32)

Yeah.

Laura Huval (3:33)

Take that for granted a lot. Because, like again, joy. Talk about joy in the simple things and our small little communities and the relationships and all that. But my family is a musical family. My parents met and fell in love in the choir loft at St. Joseph Church. No, no joke. It's a cute little story. So so my mom was a widow at the age of 29 Her first little husband had died of cancer in 1980

And and I have a sister, Opal, who's three. And my mom was singing in the choir, and my dad was the guitar player, and my daddy was a mere 21 years old, and my mom was 29 Well, my mom is very, my mom said, Oh, this little, you know, she would tell her friends this is so cute. And he makes little faces at me. He makes me smile. And so she said after mass or choir practice once, once one night, he asked her out for pizza. And my mom said, Boo, you too young.
