The Broncos final practice before their regular season prep is in the books, and we've got the latest for you. Before I tell you everything that you need to know, make sure to hit this video with the thumbs up. Subscribe to this channel helps us out a lot, but we believe that we provide the best Broncos coverage for you as we are at every single game home and away, every single practice, every event. Let's dive in to what you need to know from the practice on Wednesday, and really this entire week. And let's start with the latest on Taysom Hill, potentially joining the Broncos. During training camp, Sean Payton stated he would talk to Taysom Hill about his interest in continuing to play football and potentially joining the Broncos during their weekend together at the Hall of Fame weekend for Drew Brees. On Wednesday, Sean confirmed the two did talk at the Hall of Fame weekend, but did not have an update further than that. He said, quote, no updates, nothing. I will let you know if we had anything. I talked to him at the Hall of Fame, but it was really just with a group of people there, but nothing new there. To me, Sean left the door open for Taysom to return or to come to the Broncos and return to be with Sean Payton, because if there wasn't an update, it either be he's signing with the Broncos or he's deciding he's retiring from the NFL. So I think that door is still open for him to return to the Broncos, especially with the way the Broncos tight end room is without keeping Justin Jolie and keeping five tight ends. They could probably make room for Taysom Hill, but not yet. No updates on that front. Let me tell you about Bo Nix's jump that the defensive players are noticing from him from last year, his rookie year, to where he is at now. Zac Allen said Bo Nix's ability to read defenses is, quote, second to none, adding, quote, it's really impressive how elite he is. It's been a pretty big praise from an all-pro himself. Zac Allen continued and said, he gets the ball out quick, he's really smart, we're lucky he's on our side. Pat Surtain had similar complimentary comments about Bo as well. He said that the cerebral part of Bo Nix's game is, quote, off the charts and then added, I always say he's so poised, but he's always had that calm demeanor going into his third year, just bringing all the guys together offensively and being a tremendous leader of the team.
But that doesn't mean he's lacking a bite. According to Pat, he quote, he's got that dog attitude to him, and that's what you want in a quarterback. And boy, have we seen that dog attitude throughout his career. He's gone into opposing teams. He's had a few feisty moments on the sidelines with Sean Payton. And we even saw it this year in training camp when he went back and forth with Nick Benito a couple of times, including pulling Nick off a pile by the leg. So we know Bo's got that dog to him. According to Pat, that's exactly what you want in your quarterback. Sean Payton said, there are two reasons why critics are still skeptical of Bo. The first is people still hold on to their pre-draft evaluations of him. The second is they don't get to watch him enough. Payton also added, they'll quote, we love what we're seeing. And the Broncos do love what they're seeing from number ten. Let me tell you about the guy behind Bo. Before I do, hit us a thumbs up, subscribe to this channel. We really appreciate it. The Broncos named a backup quarterback. Congratulations to Jarrett Stidham on getting that backup job. On Wednesday, Payton announced it. And while he tried to avoid naming a number two quarterback, he ultimately caved and stated that Stidham will be the guy behind Bo Nix on game days. But as Payton also pointed out, the Broncos can dress all three quarterbacks. Well, Sam Ellinger will be dressed on game day. However, he'll only be able to play if both Nix and Stidham aren't able to play. If, that's if the Broncos designate Stidham, or Ellinger as the emergency third quarterback on game days. They could have all three dressed and Stidham could play if both of those two guys are okay. But there's really no reason to do that. You make him the emergency third quarterback and then it makes it clear. Bo's one, Stidham's two, and Ellinger is three. So finally, the backup quarterback thing is done. Congratulations to Jarrett. Let me get you some injury updates. I got some good news. Alex Singleton was back at practice on Wednesday after the birth of his daughter on Tuesday.
