Sponsored by DK. Now back to the show. When I do perspectives, I like to research people a little bit and I Googled you and we gotta talk about this game. We're on this show called Canada's Smartest Person, is this correct?

Jakob Sanderson (2:34)

That's correct.

JJ Zachariason (2:36)

What was this show about?

Jakob Sanderson (2:37)

I wouldn't take it too literally.

JJ Zachariason (2:40)

You got to give us the rundown. I have never heard of this show in my life. I'm sure a lot of American listeners have not heard of this show. What was this all about?

Jakob Sanderson (2:46)

I'm not surprised that Americans are not constantly consuming Canadian game show content. But yeah, it ran for, I think, three years, and it was based on Gardner's theory of multiple intelligence. So the idea was each episode, there would be four contestants, and you would do a challenge based on each component of intelligence. So there would be like physical intelligence, logical intelligence, analytical intelligence, artistic, etc, linguistic. So I was just watching hockey with my dad during the playoffs, and this commercial kept coming up over and over again. CBC was just shoving this commercial down our throat, and it was like, apply, apply, apply. That was like, you should apply.

You'd be interesting on TV, you're reasonably smart, whatever. So I was like, all right, you know what, screw it. So I filled out a written application, and then they called me, and we did like an interview, and then we had to do an intelligence test, and I guess I did good enough. So then, yeah, I flew out to Toronto and did not win, so I'm not Canada's smartest person. In my four-person episode, I made it to the top two where we had to do a gauntlet, which combined all of the different elements of intelligence. Specifically, I got to the stage at about the same time with two left, and we had to carry foam blocks over a seesaw, and that was to test our physical intelligence, and I had insufficient physical intelligence, so I continued to drop the blocks over the seesaw. That was the end of the road for me.

JJ Zachariason (4:25)

Has this been pushed on social and stuff in your mentions before?

Jakob Sanderson (4:29)

I've seen it on occasion. There's like, right at the moment that I lost, you can see two things. One, you can see me throw the block on the ground after falling off, and pretty clearly yelling the F-word. And then the other one is that after I've calmed down from that, I just do one of these. And that has been slowed down, and someone's made a gif of that. So it's just a very slow motion version of me doing the... I don't even know how you would describe it.
