Derek Brown is a Senior Fantasy Football Analyst at FantasyPros and a former FSWA DFS Writer of the Year finalist. He's a Texan, a dad, he's got an epic beard, and he's definitely not afraid to make bold claims based on his research. These are his Late-Round Perspectives.

They've got plenty of different fantasy-focused games for you to try, including one of my favorites, Best Ball. Best Ball drafts are simple. You draft a team, which you can do in minutes, and that's it. There's no waiver wire, no trading, no team maintenance. Your lineup is set for you automatically each week based on player performance. Now, I've already started creating Best Ball content for the summer, and there's more coming. Why not put that content to good use? Now, back to the show.

I think the last time I saw you was when you were in my dad mobile over the summer.

Derek Brown (1:24)

Yeah, I remember. We had a bunch of people at the expo. People were trying not to vomit on the way to another bar to have fun. And hopefully your wife doesn't listen to this podcast because it was an eventful night.

JJ Zachariason (1:35)

It was, it was. And for the record, everyone, I was the one driving. I was not drinking.

And others-

Derek Brown (1:41)

You were not about to vomit either. So for the others.

JJ Zachariason (1:43)

Others in the vehicle with me. I was trying to just be their transportation from one spot to the next. But here, I mean, this is the scene though, is that we had driven to Pittsburgh. So the expo's in Canton.

We had driven to Pittsburgh because that weekend, my sister-in-law was getting married like the following weekend. So we're like, let's just extend this trip. We'll make it 10 days or whatever, coming from Charlotte, where I live.

We drive up to Pittsburgh. I drop my family off there. And then I go to Canton for the weekend because it's a short drive from Pittsburgh to Canton. And so I have this vehicle, this SUV, that we had driven up from here in Charlotte that had two kids in it. One, my son was only like eight months old at the time.

And everyone piles in to get in this car and everyone's giving me crap for how messy it was and how there were car seats in it. I'm like, guys, I didn't drive to Canton to DD you guys around. I drove to Canton because I went to this conference. I just so happen to be not drinking right now. I can take you to the bar. My goodness.

Derek Brown (2:47)

It was so legendary because I remember, and I will admit, I was not sober that night. So, but I was not, I was not the one. I want that on record. I was not the one possibly hurling around, you know, about to hurl in your car.

JJ Zachariason (3:01)

Sure.

Derek Brown (3:01)

But the best part of that entire car ride outside of the other banter was basically the end, the beginning and the end of it was, if you vomit in this car, I swear to God, I won't even kill you. I think my wife might.

That was, I forget which, cause dude, we had it packed. We had the, the van was packed. I forget who was giving you so much crap about-

JJ Zachariason (3:27)

I think it was, I think it's Dagle. I think Dagle was the one.

Derek Brown (3:29)

It was either Dagle or it was Rich. One of them were, I know it was Harmon.

One of them was giving you a ton of crap about the reality of how a car looks when you have kids. It's just, it's the reality, dude.

JJ Zachariason (3:43)

There's crumbs everywhere. There's toys on the ground.

Derek Brown (3:46)

You're gonna find half-eaten goldfish bags in the back. Like, it's not stale. Guess it's still good.

JJ Zachariason (3:52)

Right, it was a seven-hour drive from Charlotte to Pittsburgh. Like, give me a break, guys. And then I had to put in some yacht rock to calm the nerves a little bit and calm people down in the backseat. My goodness. But I do think that was the last time that we, I mean, obviously we've chatted plenty just about like the draft class and such, but I haven't seen you in the flesh since then. So it's good to see you, man.
