Welcome to the Winged Wheel Podcast, the number one source for news, analysis and discussion on the Detroit Red Wings, the NHL and all things hockey. Here are your hosts, Ryan Hana, Brad Krysko and Evan Lobsinger.

I never want to hear about Eric Carlson again, Brad. We have him at home and he's better.
Justin Faulk is such a dog. I don't want to hear a single thing. I don't care what your charts say about Justin Faulk. He's been a dog since he got here.
Evan Lobsinger (0:43)
Justin Faulk looks like that stereotypical, like shot blocking defenseman who just has lead boots. Then all of a sudden he just like turns into a Norris Caliber defenseman splits the D in scores and you're like, what just happened?
Ryan Hana (0:59)
A Buzz Lightyear fallen with style as he buries that thing. That was sick. I'm sure the other team's defenseman were like, no way Justin Faulk just did that to us.
Evan Lobsinger (1:09)
Unbelievable.
Ryan Hana (1:10)
That must have been superstar Emmitt Finnie, but they have it all wrong because Emmitt Finnie was too busy feeding the opposing team.
Evan Lobsinger (1:18)
My favorite part of that whole sequence was no refs or linesmen were there to break it up, so they just stopped and skated to the penalty box and then didn't get penalties.
Ryan Hana (1:27)
That's right. It's the beautiful game, baby.
I know the refs make us so mad sometimes with how they call penalties and scrums and stuff, especially when the Red Wings get the extra or things happen like that. Finnie got drilled from behind and there was no call and things like that. But sometimes when stuff like that happens and there's like too many fights to keep track of, nobody gets their arms in the air. Nobody's like all...
Evan Lobsinger (1:51)
Sometimes the perpetrators get away. Sometimes an innocent bystander gets hit.
Ryan Hana (1:57)
The boys finished up their fight. They got up. They skated away. They could have kept wailing on each other. They know the code. That was perfect.
Evan Lobsinger (2:03)
True gentlemen.
Ryan Hana (2:05)
They were true gentlemen.
We're talking about hockey. We're talking about positive hockey. I'm going to take this man. It felt good to watch a good Red Wings hockey game, a good old school hockey game where the Red Wings won.
Take what we can get at this point. Welcome to the Winged Wheel Podcast, folks. Starting this off before Evan can sour the mood. I saw something brewing in your head. He's going to talk to you about all things Detroit Red Wings hockey, the world of the NHL, and lots more. I'm your host, Ryan Hana.
Brad Krysko (2:33)
I'm Brad Krysko.
Evan Lobsinger (2:35)
I'm Evan.

On this episode of the Winged Wheel Podcast, we're going to be talking about the Red Wings game against the Ottawa Senators last night, their first win of the season, and a return, a very complicated return of Dylan Larkin to the Red Wings roster, which turned out great on the ice, and with mixed reactions, which will break down. News and notes about the Red Wings, including their management off ice, their continued negotiations with Simon Edvinsson, notes from around the league, and more before we jump into overtime. Very quickly, if you want to support the Winged Wheel Podcast, patreon.com/wingedwheelpodcast, you get access to our bonus overtime episodes, which are recorded after these main ones. Red Wings vs. Senators. I almost called them a rival yesterday, and then I was like, I don't know.
I don't know if you would say that like in terms of competition in the standings. They've been there, thereabouts for a lot of the last few seasons, close to each other, although the results haven't been exactly the same. But it did feel like a rivalry game. And it was chippy early, chippy throughout the game. But the big story line was Dylan Larkin returns to the ice. To the surprise of a lot of people, around the league even, because they were wondering, you know, Larkin's injury was real. And they were saying, if it's not all serious or convenient, then are they going to just sit him out until he's ready? But no, like Larkin, as he and the team said, in fairness, when he was ready, he was going to go and took to the ice.
