Knicks win 1st NBA title in 53 years & Sorsby enters NFL supplemental draft

Hello, hello, hello, how's everyone doing? Another week, another episode. This is Stats Over Politics. As always, I'm your host, Shaun Holko, alongside my guys, Mr. Kevin Dent and Mr. Jaevon Totty. We're back for another episode. Couple weeks later, we didn't get a chance to react to any finals games, but here we are ready to react to the entire series as the New York Knicks won their first championship in 53 years. Yes, you heard that right. The New York Knicks are the reigning, fending undisputed NBA champions as we're back for another episode, number 192, eight away from 200 of Stats Over Politics. Mr. Jaevon Totty, how are we feeling today?

**Jaevon Totty** (1:14)
I'm feeling good.
The Knicks, they did it. Shout out to Spike Lee for being there courtside. They showed the side by side of him in 2026 at the court side at the finals game and him in 1999, the last time they went. And I mean, it's night and day. I mean, obviously, Fat Joe, all those guys, just everybody, Timothy Chalamet just was in the locker room. It was insane.
New York stand up. I mean, you guys proved me wrong for sure. Kevin must, Kevin knew all along. He'll tell you that from the jump. So Kevin loves being right on this. He likes being right about a lot of things. But I just, man, man, congrats to New York. We'll get into it. But I mean, just hats on. What a run that they had. It was insane.

**Shaun Holko** (2:07)
Yeah, Totty took the words right out of my mouth when it came to Kevin's intro for this week because the only member of this panel and of this podcast who had it right was none other than Mr. Kevin Dent. So I would imagine you're feeling pretty great today.

**Kevin Dent** (2:21)
Feeling amazing, man. The boys are back. Like you guys mentioned, only one of us was right. Everyone was real big on the Wimby train. I've been screaming from the rooftop. You guys, it was all going to come crashing down inevitably, and it did. I did not see that the Spurs were going to lead 72 percent of the time in the finals to 24 percent to the Knicks. That would not have been on my bingo card. I thought the games would be a lot closer. I mean, inevitably, they were closer to the end of the games, but just throughout the games.
I'm sure if you guys do follow me on social media, everyone saw that at half-time, me and your boy, Shaun, were having a little bit of back and forth.
You know, Shaun's real big for scrolling up in the group chat, what Kevin did say in the past.
I sent in after game two, I don't know. Yeah, after game two, it was this Brandon Jennings and Steve Swaggy Pete, Nick Young, they were saying, go New York, go New York, go. And then Shaun responds to it. And he was like, how we feeling? And I was like, the Knicks are up two to one. Did you forget? And he said, well, Kevin, it might as well be two to largest deficit, A, B, C, and D. And all I said to Shaun was, there's a lot of basketball to be played.
And then after that game, I went looking for him. Unfortunately, he was busy doing other things. So I went, I went everywhere. I was asking social media, I went to the group chat. So I was riding real, real high, man. And I felt really good about it. But we're gonna break down the series here in a second, but just overall thoughts. Congratulations to the New York Knicks.
And it's crazy to think because Stephen A went on the show today. I don't know if you guys watched the first take and he was like, I just prayed to God every night for the past like 10 years that the Knicks won before the Cowboys. And I said to myself, we saw the New York Knicks won a Super Bowl before the San Francisco 49ers won a Super Bowl.

Okay, Kevin, since you want to throw strays here, like we talked about the 53 year drought that the New York Knicks had. How many Super Bowls have the 49ers won since 1973, Kevin?

**Kevin Dent** (4:38)
You see, you're getting angry. You didn't hear what I said. I said we saw that.

**Shaun Holko** (4:41)
Yeah, because it's unnecessary.

**Kevin Dent** (4:42)
That's so unnecessary. We saw with our own two eyes. What are you, Spud? The Knicks win before the Niners. And the Niners have been there three times.
