Knicks Trade Update. A few days ago, the Knicks finalized their roster. Bruce Brown is out and James Wiseman is in.

Shout out to SNY Knicks and New York Basketball on the AppX for giving us this following information. The Knicks have officially waived Bruce Brown and because of that, James Wiseman makes the Knicks opening night roster. New York now has 14 players on standard NBA contracts.

However, reports at the time indicated that the Knicks were looking to trade Tyler Kolek to keep Bruce Brown on this team. But now new reports are indicating that that's not the case at all. They're pushing back on those reports. According to NBA insider Mark Stein, Kolek has not been shot by the Knicks so far as we neared the new season. According to Stein, the Knicks, according to one source, briefed on the talks, did not shop reserve guard Tyler Kolek to try to make roster room for Bruce Brown before Brown's release on Saturday. This doesn't mean that New York won't trade Kolek. In fact, according to new reports, if a young and up-and-coming center was available, New York would have traded Kolek.

According to Stein once again, the Knicks continue looking for one more addition at center and a possible opportunity to land a coveted option at this position, would potentially mean Kolek's end in New York. According to Stein exactly, I'm told that Kolek would only have been dealt before Tuesday's season opener against the 76ers if the deal brought a coveted center to New York.

We can't forget that while Tyler Kolek could be traded, Miles McBride is the most likely trade candidate on this team.

Shout out to Steph Bondi of the New York Post for giving us this following information. According to Bondi, he predicts that Miles McBride will be traded at some point before February's deadline. Bondi notes there's been no traction on his extension negotiations, increasing the possibility his expiring contract will be moved.

According to insider Jared Swartz with the New York Post, he states the following, Operating under owner James Dolan's demand to stay under the second apron, it will be extremely difficult for the Knicks to have all five starters on big contracts and still have space left over to give a significant contract to a bench player. That makes McBride the most likely trade candidate on the roster before the Knicks potentially lose him for nothing in the summer. And New York's not going to lose him for nothing. If they know he's not going to be extended and he will not stay on this team, like they did with Emmanuel quickly and Julius Randall, they will trade him to try to get some assets back. I think it's safe to say that we can rule out a trade before the start of the regular season, which is tomorrow against the 76ers. It's ring night, it's banner night. I don't think any trades are happening at this point. But as reports did indicate, closer to the trade deadline, we could see some more moves made. Likely for another center, New York can add to this team. And potentially in that deal, it could be Miles McBride and Tyler Kolek, packaged together, used with second round picks, in order to try to get another center on this roster. Maybe a Musa Diabate, or a Yves Missy, maybe another player we're not even thinking about. But closer to the deadline, you're gonna see a lot of teams in the NBA try to make different moves. Because if you know by the deadline time, that your team is not really gonna do anything come the postseason, then maybe you start making moves for the future at the deadline. Maybe that's gonna be true of the Pelicans, or the Hornets. And if it is, maybe Trey's that they declined during the offseason, now during the trade deadline time, they actually accept them. I know New York would love that, because they would love either one of those centers to be a part of this team, so they can grow and develop and be part of the Knicks future. Just like what Leon Rose wants. He wants this team to be competing now, and also to build a contender for the future too. And that's why Leon Rose at this point is trying to do two things at once. Build for now and build for later. And hopefully, he continues to have success doing both of those things. I know that's what I'm looking for. But it is interesting to note that Tyler Kolek is not completely off the table regarding trades. I'm not gonna lie. I was a little surprised to learn that New York didn't shop him at all in order to try to make room for Bruce Brown. Because prior to the Knicks releasing Bruce Brown, there were a number of reports indicating that Kolek was going to be shopped. And if he was traded, it was because they wanted to keep Bruce Brown on this team. But I'm happy to hear no trades were even explored regarding Tyler Kolek. I want to keep Kolek on this team. I like Tyler Kolek.
